Jeffrey Catherine Jones was part of a group of artists who helped to redefine both book illustration and comics in the 1970s. Jones passed away yesterday at age 67, but her incredible artwork will live on. <a href="http://io9.com/5803835/rip-jeffrey-catherine-jones-one-of-fantasys-greatest-artists/gallery/" title="Click here to read more about R.I.P. I'll admit it: I'm obsessed with Fritz Leiber's novel Our Lady of Darkness. It's pretty much the best book I've ever read about my hometown, San Francisco - but it's also just a great work of urban fantasy that seamlessly blends sexually liberated 1970s California with ancient forces of darkness drawn from pulp fiction. Lieber's ability to blend realism with the fantastic has won him a Hugo Award and many fans, including literary geek Michael Chabon. But his great works remain mostly unknown. More »

It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel SO BORED AND ANGRY. If Fritz Leiber's 1965 Hugo winner proves anything, it's that the award isn't a stamp of guaranteed quality. More »

All the Change World's a stage, and one man in his part plays many times — though Fritz Leiber's The Big Time is less a time-travel tale and more Agatha Christie-style Matrix, in play form. More »

When Amazon.com's SF audiobooks imprint Audible Frontiers launched earlier this year, we were interested in the potential of something new to entertain us on our morning commutes. With the line now in its third month, we checked in with Audible's director of content, Steve Feldberg, to see whether it looks like there's a future in this whole "books in your ear" thing. More »
