How will Agent Coulson come back from the dead for S.H.I.E.L.D.?

We know that we can say sayonara to Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson if ABC doesn't pick up S.H.I.E.L.D., but just how is Joss Whedon planning on bringing back our favorite Captain America fanboy? Possible S.H.I.E.L.D. spoilers below.

Slashfilm is reporting that a source close to the S.H.I.E.L.D. production has the details on Coulson's resurrection—or rather, his failure to die:

In the pilot, it’s revealed Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), the ultimate super spy, faked Agent Coulson’s death on purpose to motivate The Avengers. Some S.H.I.E.L.D. members were in on it (including, possibly, Maria Hill played by Cobie Smulders) but The Avengers were not. Their security clearance wasn’t high enough. Coulson was forced to hold his breath as part of the ruse and that’s a point of contention among his colleagues After the fact, Fury moved him to a remote location until things died down, and then he was reinserted into duty at the time of the show.

It's no surprise that Fury faked Coulson's death, though it certainly pulls the weight from his "death" in The Avengers. Now that Coulson is (tentatively) alive, how shall we go about bringing back the other characters Whedon has murdered?
