Is Disney's Space Mountain comic a primer for their next franchise?SDisney is rolling out their very first graphic novel, titled and inspired by the beloved Tomorrowland ride Space Mountain. Penned by Bryan Q. Miller and drawn by Kelley Jones, take a look at the very first images of the "real-life" Space Mountain. Which, honestly, is nothing like we expected.

Here's the official synopsis, according to Amazon:

The year is 2125 and the Magellan Science Academy has given two lucky cadets “golden tickets” to join a team of space explorers on a special field trip to journey 24 hours into the future. But when their mission goes unexpectedly wrong, the two kids must band together with a miniature flying saucer sidekick to save themselves and their crew–and return to Space Mountain–before time runs out and the universe is destroyed!

Is Disney's Space Mountain comic a primer for their next franchise?S

We love Space Mountain, and we can only assume that this is the first stab at a new ride-centric franchise just like Pirates of the Caribbean and Guillermo del Toro's Haunted Mansion movie. And yes, the synopsis is fairly juvenile, but the graphic novel is being targeted at a much younger audience, so keep that in mind. Will Space Mountain take off like the rest of Disney ventures? Or will this sink like Atlantis?
