This Week's TV: Say a final goodbye to two of our greatest heroes!S

There are two sad farewells this week. First Matt Smith has his very last adventure on Doctor Who, and then the series finale of Nikita sees the super-assassin going to a dark place. There's also some of the strangest holiday programming you've ever heard of. Tons of clips and details below!

Today:

There's nothing on, sorry. Time to marathon all the Nikita episodes you missed, in preparation for Friday's finale!

Tuesday:

Doctor Who Marathon (BBC America):

They're showing Matt Smith episodes pretty much all day, in case you need to catch up! This continues on Wednesday as well, leading up to his big finale.

Wednesday:

Marathons (All Day):

Syfy is having a marathon of "Christmas and wintry-themed films such as Snowmageddon, Ice Quake, Snow Beast and Yeti." Meanwhile, TNT is showing Spider-Man, The Time Machine, and the Pirates of the Caribbean films all day.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Yule Log (6-10 AM EST, Hub Network):

Just what it sounds like. It's a "Yule Log," or a video image of a fireplace, being broadcast for four hours on the Hub, except that various cartoon characters occasionally put in cameo appearances around the fireplace, "as seen at Pinkie Pie's house where stockings have been hung for each of the core-cast ponies of My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, including Princess Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy."

Doctor Who (9 PM, BBC America):

The final hour of Matt Smith has arrived! Here's what the BBC wants you to know:

Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe's deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.

This is preceded, at 8 PM, by a special called Farewell to Matt Smith, in which famous people and Who actors reminisce about the Eleventh Doctor.

Thursday:

Once again, nothing on today. We checked twice, sorry. Hopefully you've been given (or bought yourself) some nice DVD sets over the holidays — put something on.

Friday:

Being Human Marathon (Syfy):
Catch up on Being Human (the U.S. version) from 8 AM to 6 PM.

Nikita (9 PM, The CW):

Hot damn, this show is going out on a high note. And it sounds like the series finale, appropriately called "Canceled," is going to take us to some very dark places:

THE FINAL FIGHT — Frustrated that MDK is still active, Nikita (Maggie Q) decides to end it her way.Leaving Michael (Shane West) and the team behind, Nikita takes Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) on the road to exact revenge.Nikita and Alex capture Jones (guest star David S. Lee) and force him to reveal the names of the rest of the members of MDK.Armed with the information, Nikita goes down a dark path that may ultimately cost her her soul.Michael tracks her down and must get her to surrender before the military opens fire and kills her. However, Nikita isn't one to give up on a fight, leading her to make a shocking decision.

Tell all your friends to watch the finale — especially if they've got Nielsen boxes — so this show can go out with confusingly high ratings, and make the CW realize what they just pulled the plug on.

Saturday:

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (10:30 AM, Hub Network):
The episode "Bats" is just like the musical Cats, except with Bats, apparently. And here's what happens:

When Applejack's beautiful orchard falls under attack on Apple Bucking Day, it is clear that the dreaded Vampire Fruitbats have returned and Applejack is ready to take drastic measures to protect the orchard. However, the always compassionate Fluttershy argues for a more humane plan, which causes conflict between the two and could cost them their friendship.

Atlantis (9 PM, BBC America):

As usual, Hercules messes everything up!

Desperate to win over Medusa's heart, Hercules pays a visit to a powerful witch, Circe (Lucy Cohu, Ripper Street,Torchwood: Children of Earth). But events take a malevolent turn when Hercules realizes he has unleashed a potent but toxic enchantment. With a bitter chain of events rapidly unfolding, it's up to Jason to undo history before it is too late. As he re-traces Hercules' steps into the mountains, he is unaware that a deadly trap has been set for him; one with far-reaching consequences beyond the fate of just his friends.

Also on TV today: Hub Network has a new R.L. Stine at 7:30 PM.

Sunday:

Finding Bigfoot: Abominable Snowman (9 PM, Animal Planet):

A special two-hour episode, in which the Sasquatch-hunting crew journey to Nepal:

The team from Finding Bigfoot travel around the world to Nepal in search of the infamous Yeti. They visit monasteries with Yeti relics, talk to firsthand witnesses and travel into the dense forests of the Himalayas. Will they succeed in finding evidence?

That's followed by a one-hour "behind the scenes" special about the episode at, 11.

Also on TV today: Nicktoons has new Yu-Gi-Oh! at noon. At 10 PM, Weather has a new Freaks of Nature and DA has a new Monsters and Mysteries in America.
