We've written about the underwater sculptures of Jason deCaires Taylor before, but this is his most awesome project yet. In La Evolución Silenciosa (silent evolution), he created 400 lifelike human sculptures to become an artificial coral reef. More »

You might think your office has lousy air-flow, but what about this working stiff? Artist Jason de Caires Taylor is filling the ocean-floor with freaky sculptures. But these aren't the weirdest things we've submerged in hopes of saving the reefs. More »

If somebody created sculpture gardens outside the undersea city of Rapture in the trashed genetic utopia game BioShock, these strange statues would be in it. Jason deCaires Taylor is the curator and artist for what he calls the Underwater Sculpture Gallery in the West Indies. He populates the shallow waters offshore with haunting depictions of people doing ordinary things — like riding a bicycle. Gradually, each sculpture comes to life as it's covered in tiny sea creatures and plants. More »
