Journalist desperately seeks an "expert" who says tattoos cause cancer

There's a ton of awful science reporting out there... but at least most of it comes from people misinterpreting scientific papers and skimming actual press releases. Meanwhile, there's one journalist, who went out looking for an "expert" to say that tattoos cause cancer.

From Private Eye Magazine comes this gem, in which a reporter for the Sun newspaper posts a request for sources:

Journalist desperately seeks an "expert" who says tattoos cause cancer

In case you can't read it, journalist Matthew Barbour writes:

Further to my last request, I also now urgently need an expert who will say tattoos can give you cancer. We can plug any relevant organisation, give copy approval, and pay a fee. Please get back to me asap if you can help.

There's a long tradition in British journalism of paying for sources... but looking for a source who can say tattoos "can give you cancer" with a straight face is really insane.
