Embark on a flyover of giant asteroid Vesta from the perspective of NASA’s Dawn spacecraft

Feast your eyes on some of the latest vistas of Vesta, the second-most massive object in our solar system's main asteroid belt.

The recently released video takes us on an overhead tour of the giant asteroid from the perspective of NASA's Dawn spacecraft, which is scheduled to continue gathering images of Vesta over the coming year before setting its sights for Ceres, the largest of the main belt asteroids.

The images and videos gathered by Dawn's framing camera will help scientists learn more about the asteroid's history, and the events that gave rise to its curious geological features.
