Just How Acrobatic Is Daisy Ridley's New Star Wars Character?

See for yourself, in our first glimpse of Star Wars' new stunts. True Blood's final season will be a "personal" story. Nicole Beharie says Sleepy Hollow will have five times the number of love triangles of season 1. And Robert Rodriguez is planning a film with Don Johnson that sounds totally ridiculous. Star Wars

Carrie Fisher says that returning to Star Wars will let her "get Princess Leia right this time." Specifically, Fisher said, "I think less British. I looked a little pretentious faking the accent." [BBC]

There are a couple of rumors making the rounds, so let's start with the more plausible one: Hannah Levitt-Collins, Chloe Bruce, and Florian Robin will be working on Episode VII as stunt doubles. The Jedi Council Forums had a post claiming that Daisy Ridley's character was "EXTREMELY gymnastic" and that she would be doubled by "a dancer called Hannah Collins." More useful was this post on daisyridleynews:

An extra on set of Star Wars Episode VII told me "today was very exciting, very exhausting, but really awesome. it was all about action today, explosions were awesome, and Daisy amazing like always, light on her feet, sharp face, beautiful, quick, and very polite."

Also, is Hannah Levitt-Collins, a dancer/model from London, Daisy's double for some scenes? There's evidence she's on set with her, just as there was with Chloe Bruce, the amazing stunt woman.

Further backing this up was a tweet from Florian Robin showing him and Bruce training in Abu Dhabi at the Qasr Al Sarab, a hotel connected to the crew in previous articles about Star Wars filming. Plus, Robin's photo matches a photo John Boyega posted to his Instagram a few days ago.

Less certain is a video that is purported to be of Ridley training on the Episode VII set. The video was posted 16 days ago and was tagged #episodevii and #daisyridley 8 days ago. The same person also posted a photo tagged "#darkside." So take it all with a grain of salt. Both the video and the photo are below.

Update: The stunt video is not from Star Wars, but from an unrelated promo video posted by Stunt Lab. [Star Wars Episode 7 News]

Untitled Robert Rodriguez Project

Don Johnson told Grantland about an upcoming project he'll be doing with Robert Rodriguez, and it sounds like it's a trip:

I'm doing a thing with Robert Rodriguez that I wrote. It's about a guy who essentially becomes the Terminator in the 21st century. He's an NSA experiment that's gone terribly wrong. They've injected him with nanorobots to give him the computing power and destructive abilities of Deep Blue. And with all that power, he goes off the fuckin' grid. And I'm an ex-NSA operative who went crazy in the Balkans, and they come get me out of the loony bin to get this guy.

Edge of Tomorrow

Director Doug Liman says that the film won't be the usual Hollywood action movie:

I was at a party in Williamsberg over Christmas and this woman was like "Oh Tom Cruise.. Emily Blunt.. Big Hollywood Movie… I bet they live happily ever after at the end of the film even though he's so much older than her". I told her how the film actually goes and this woman's jaw just dropped. People just expect such a formulaic thing from Hollywood so when you have the opportunity to break the mould you should.

. . . With a project like Edge of Tomorrow everybody wanted me to change it up. There was no pressure from Warner Bros to make this look like a standard studio film. They wanted to do something fresh and occasionally I'd pitch them an idea and they'd tell me it wasn't 'Doug Liman enough'. They meant that when people think of me they expect something more contrary and maybe a bit more rebellious.

He also talked about Tom Cruise's part and what his character's journey looks like:

Tom is a total coward in this movie — not just in the beginning, but all the way through. He doesn't just become a hero. He squeals so many times throughout the movie, though he does have an amazing squeal! Other movie stars in my experience would be more hesitant about being that vulnerable.

On the opposite end of the import spectrum is this Entertainment Tonight interview which asked the stars how they went to the bathroom in their exosuit costumes:

Emily Blunt: We just peed our pants. It was real in the trenches.

Tom Cruis: No we didn't — come on — now we're going to have to be going to the next [interview], like, "No, no no, Em was joking."

Jurassic World

Director Colin Trevorrow tweeted a photo of the Jurassic World veterinary patch. The patch specifically mentions "Isla Nublar," which seems to confirm reports that the island would be the location of the film. [Twitter]

The Walking Dead

A bunch of information has come out through filming reports posted to the Spoiling Dead Facebook page. A car chase was filmed recently with Melissa McBride (Carol) and Norman Reedus (Darryl) in the vicinity. Said the set report:

One had a cross in the back window but it was not the same vehicle that took Beth. With leaves spread over the road the car would speed away. Right after, you would hear a gunshot followed by another vehicle chasing after the other. This was filmed multiple times at different angles.

Another report discussed an explosion and seeing a steel door and a car riddled with bullets (photo below):

More photos from Fridays filming. There seems to have been some small explosion at the front door. Possibly trying to blast there way through the steel covered door to get inside? They must have really wanted to get inside!

True Blood

Executive producer Brian Buckner promises a return to form for the show's final season:

In the final season, we're telling a more personal story. We're going back to the original promise of the show: Bill and Sookie. People are going to be very surprised about the way we get there. There's romance, sadness and resolution.

. . . Fans can expect a bloody barbecue with consequences in the season premiere. Nobody's safe.

Sleepy Hollow

When the show returns, Nicole Beharie says there will be "times five" more love triangles. Tom Mison, on the other hand, promises, "more flashbacks, exploring the core of the characters and expanding the world of Sleepy Hollow. There will be new characters coming in exposing new problems." Of the two characters killed off in the very beginning of the season, one will be among the younger members of the cast. And by the end of the season? Another major death. [E! Online]

Defiance

Here's all Jaime Murray would say about the show's new season:
The first season we were introducing the audience to this fantastical, weird and wonderful world. We didn't really know how far we could take it without losing them, so we tried to kind of ground it in this gritty reality and that is the style and tone of the show," she told us. "If you thought the first season was weird, the second season gets a whole lot weirder. I think that all the major characters had massive cliffhangers at the end of last season. Whatever position they were in at the end of last season, their world has pretty much been turned upside down

In the Flesh

Here's the description of episode 2.05:

Kieren finds the strength to face his family without contact lenses and cover-up mousse for the first time but is saddened by their reaction.

Worse still, he's arrested by Dean and hauled in front of the parish council, wrongly accused of freeing the rabids in the GP Surgery. Despite his protestations, the council place Kieren under house arrest, threatening to send him back to the Norfolk treatment centre if he doesn't confess. A desperate Kieren escapes the house and is floored to discover Simon has disappeared - and has a stash of illicit Blue Oblivion at the bungalow.

Philip, who is contemplating life beyond the village council, is delighted when Amy invites him on a 'crazy' daytrip and they share their first proper kiss. However, as her health worries increase, she has a shocking proposition for him.

Meanwhile, we – and Gary - follow Simon to the city. We flashback to his horrific experiences in and outside the treatment centre, learning how he was radicalized and became the Undead Prophet's final and most beloved disciple. In the present, Simon receives a mission from the Undead Prophet which rocks his faith for the first time. However, he returns to Roarton grimly resolved to do his duty.

Gary, also back in the village, is growing increasingly riled from Maxine's classified intelligence. He doesn't know the nature of Simon's mission, but one thing is for certain - danger is looming in Roarton.
