Just how intense will the midseason finale of Walking Dead be?S

Has Star Wars Episode VII finally, actually cast someone? And does Star Trek have a director to replace J.J. Abrams? Plus more news puts a Deadpool movie within reach, and we know what's next for Once Upon a Time's Tinkerbell. Spoilers now!

Star Wars

Jedi News, the website of many other unsubstantiated reports, is saying that Serenity co-star Chiwetel Ejiofor will be in Episode VII in an undisclosed role. Now this rumor comes right after Ejiofor was reported to be sitting in J.J. Abrams office, so it could either be speculation based on that or what actually happened. [Comic Book Movie]

Star Trek 3

From Star Wars to Star Trek: Joe Cornish, whose directorial debut was Attack the Block, is apparently the top of Paramount's list to replace J.J. Abrams for the third rebooted Star Trek movie. [Deadline]

X-Men: Days of Future Past

The latest Empire magazine has a complete description of a scene from the film:

As extras with suitably big hair glide past, the camera tracks with Raven, on her way to catch a flight. Out of the blue passengers start talking to her, warning her, dissuading her from her intention. She ignores them, rounds a corner and standing in front of her is Charles Xavier.

Ten years have elapsed since the events of the previous movie, a decade in which Charles has disbanded the X-Men and let his school for gifted youngsters go to seed.

Charles - or an astral projection of Charles, hence the absence of a wheelchair - pleads with Raven not to leave him once more. At one point McAvoy throws in the line, "We have to show them we're not all like Erik." But Charles' remonstrations have no effect; Raven will not be swayed. The scene ends with a distraught Xavier promising, "Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will find you, Raven. If I have to, I will stop you."

Man of Steel 2: Batman vs. Superman

There are reports that filming is being set up in Yorkville, Illinois, which is the same location that was used as the Kent farm in Man of Steel. We already know Diane Lane will be reprising her role as Martha Kent, so a return to the Kent farm isn't totally out of the question. So, if the "secret" film project going on here is Man of Steel 2, is it going to be a flashback to Clark's childhood or a scene in the movie's present? Given that Cavill's still shooting another project, a flashback seems more likely. [Inquisitr]

Mad Max: Fury Road

Tom Hardy says that he's going to be filming some more scenes for the reboot to Mad Max:

(Mad Max)'s great. It's a big old piece, it's a behemoth of a piece. I'm off there next week to do some reshoots, well not reshoots actually, but doing more. We're building, building more Mad Maxes, even more spectacular and cool stuff.

Deadpool

We already know that Ryan Reynolds is committed to making this movie happen, and recently said it was inching forward — but director Tim Miller also believes it's going to happen soon. He recently said that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have turned in a new version on the script and that all they're waiting on is a green light:

Deadpool is still alive and we’re just waiting for the studio to embrace what an amazingly fucking awesome film this would be. Ryan is ready, I am ready, the fans are more than ready, we just need that elusive green light.

Game of Thrones

Neil Marshall, who directed the huge "Blackwater" episode in season two, will be directing the penultimate episode of the next season of Game of Thrones. He was asked if that episode will have anything like the Red Wedding from last year's penultimate episode, and here was his response:

I wouldn't doubt it. I think that's one of the key things of 'Game of Thrones,' which is to take characters that you loved for three of four years and then butcher them brutally. Yeah, there's a bit of drama and tragedy in my episode so I'm sure there is for the rest of the season as well.

The Walking Dead

All signs appear to be pointing to the mid-season finale recreating a major plot from the comic books. Wetpaint has done some great piecing together of available information to speculate that the midseason finale will have the Governor launching an attack on the prison. During filming in July, a tank was reported on set, as well as a huge explosion. Since the Governor's attack in the comic book features a a tank breaking down the fences, it's likely that it was filmed. As to why it's thought to be appearing in episode eight, Adrew Lincoln described the episode this way:

The mid-season finale is the biggest thing we've attempted, I think, so far in our show. I think the crew, and Ernest Dickerson, who directed it, everybody busted their guts to do that episode. Darrell Pritchett, who does the special effects — he's the man with the dynamite, was the busiest man I've ever seen. It was thrilling. Just thrilling. It just felt like an incredibly exciting episode. And then in the [final eight of the season], it's like we're spinning out into orbit, and it's a completely new show. It's really, really exciting.

Norman Reedus also teased the midseason finale being explosive, saying:

I will say that we just wrapped the mid-season finale last night of The Walking Dead, mind-blowing. Minds are going to blow up, it’s so crazy, it’s so good. We thought last season was real good. This season’s crazy good. It’s nuts, you’ll love it.

So the current speculation is that episode eight (the midseason finale) is the attack and episode nine will deal with the aftermath. [Wetpaint]

Once Upon a Time

Grimm

Executive producer David Greenwalt described the themes and arc of season three this way:

New life. Revelations. Nobody is what they appear to be. And there really are alligators in the sewer. We have a seven-year plan, a nine-year plan, and a 10-year plan, and we know a lot of big stuff is going to happen in year five.

Greenwalt and fellow executive producer Jom Kouf also explained that Nick will go grey when he becomes "emotionally involved." They also said that this new state will make Nick "more formidable" and that we'll see one of the new abilities (being able to stay under water for a long period of time) in an upcoming episode.

Greenwalt also explained the motivations of the villains we'll be seeing:

He who can control a Grimm has a great deal of power both in the royal world and in the resistance. We're going to learn more about that as time goes by.
