Here's Robert Rodriguez's movie for Nike, The Black Mamba, which stars Kobe Bryant as a basketball player with Last Dragon-like superpowers, Danny Trejo as a henchman with giant claws, Bruce Willis as some guy in a suit, and Kanye West as a supervillain who collects shoes (or something). There's also a basketball bomb. None of it makes a lick of sense, but it's pretty slick for a footwear commercial. More »

If you watched the Grammy awards on Sunday, then you saw the robotic duo Daft Punk in its first televised performance ever, with Kanye West. West comes out and does his thing in front of a large pyramid, which later lights up with neon piping and splits open to reveal Daft Punk in Tron-inspired versions of their robot suits playing a touch-screen mega sampler/computer/synthesizer. This is the fastest road vehicle in the world, the Acabion from designer Peter Maskus. It can go up to 342 mph and gets about 70 miles per gallon at 60 mph. I found it on Kanye West's blog, where he posts futuristic (and super-expensive) toys almost every day. One day, it'll be a self-cleaning kitchen that uses plants developed by the aerospace industry that produce water and vegetable soap. Another day, it'll be an e-paper bracelet that can serve as a watch, or a multimedia player. Or a mobile bubble workstation. Or a jetpack.
