James Cameron denies that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joining the cast of the Avatar sequels. Pretty much the last crossover you ever expected will be hinted at on Arrow. And the final season of True Blood will spend a fair amount of time in Bill's past. Plus, a wild rumor about the possible return of an archvillain on Doctor Who. Spoilers now!

In his Reddit AMA, James Cameron shot down the rumor that Arnold Schwarzenegger would play a villain in one of the upcoming Avatar sequels. Cameron said that he hadn't talked to Schwarzenegger about it, and that he couldn't see any role in the scripts that fit him. Cameron also gave an update on the films' status:
The second, third and fourth films all go into production simultaneously. They're essentially all in preproduction now, because we are designing creatures, settings, and characters that span all three films. And we should be finished with all three scripts within the next, I would say, six weeks....The biggest pressure I feel right now is cutting out things — I love to get the film down to a length that is affordable. There hasn't been a problem finding new and wonderful things to include in the movie.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction
Speaking of movie scores, the band Imagine Dragons seems to be working with composer Steve Jablonsky on Transformers 4. How, exactly, remains unclear. The rumor comes from a Facebook user who took a photo during the recording session, which was then semi-confirmed by a photo on Imagine Dragons' own Facebook page, which appears to show the same studio, and has the caption "working on a score for an upcoming movie..." Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Michael Bay refused to give details about Grimlock's backstory but did say that 'you'll understand why they're there when you see the movie." He did, however, hint that Lockdown's story might set the stage for future Transformers movies:
Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he's here for one person, one alien, and then he's out of here. So he doesn't really want to take sides. The cause and balance of the galaxy is kind of messed up when different species play with different species. And that opens up a whole other gigantic world for Transformers.
Lockdown's ship has a lot of meaning that can go into other movies. There's a lot of backstory about that ship that's not laid out here. You're going to see a few things where you're like 'What is that? And what is that?' And you're going to see a couple shots like, 'Wait a minute, who are they?' But we don't answer those questions.
Star Mark Wahlberg also gave a short synopsis of the plot:
[The government] wants to wipe out all the Transformers, all the Autobots. Optimus has lost all faith in humankind, and I'm trying to convince him there is still good in the world and we need to work together.
The 5th Wave
Chloe Grace Moretz is in final negotiations to star in the film adaptation of Rick Yancey's novel. If it goes through, Moretz will play Cassie Sullivan, who survives four waves of attacks against Earth. On the run to save her brother, Sullivan meets a "mysterious young man who may become her final hope." [The Wrap]
Continuing on with casting news, Gerard Butler will star in Geostorm for Warner Bros. The film follows a satellite designer trying to prevent disaster, after Earth's climate-control satellites fail. [Variety]
Deliver Us From Evil
Here's an international trailer for this Eric Bana-vs-evil film:
Wales Online has a round-up of everything that's been released so far. Most of it is stuff we've covered before, but it does contain the speculation that Steve John Shepherd (Eastenders) will be playing a new iteration of the Master. Steven Moffat is supposedly set to write three episodes: the premiere, the fourth episode, and "possibly" the Christmas special. If true, that would mean that Moffat isn't writing the season finale, for the first time in his tenure. [Wales Online]
Agents of SHIELD
We now have more details about Cobie Smulders' return appearance as Maria Hill. The episode is 1.20, "Nothing Personal," which is described thusly:
With no one left to trust, Agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) teams up with Coulson while S.H.I.E.L.D. is being destroyed.
We've also got a photo of Hill's return. [Spoilers Guide]
Here are two clips from tomorrow's episode, "Providence." [Coming Soon]
In the last season, the show will flash back to 1855 and show us Bill's parents, William Compton Sr. and Margaret Compton. There will also be flashbacks to Caroline Compton (Shannon Lucio) giving birth to one of Bill's kids in the 1850s. In the present, new character Brigette, a microbiologist, will be introduced. [E! Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 6) will direct and produce Radiant Doors for WGN America. The series, based on the short story by author Michael Swanwick, explores the problems that arise when a huge number of time-traveling refugees arrive in our world, fleeing a dystopian future. [Variety]
This season, the crew is moving toward using practical effects over computer animation. In the upcoming season, the Espheni will be practical suits rather than being digitally rendered as they had been before. Below is a behind-the-scenes featurette and a trailer. [Three If By Space]
Witches of East End
While I, and I alone, count down the days to the return of Witches of East End, here's a little bit of season two news: new character Eva will be introduced. Eva is "an exotic and mysterious woman" and "sweet, yet sexy." Despite everyone wanting to get close to her, there will be danger lurking below the surface of Eva. [E! Online]
