Yesterday, Doctor Who unleashed its second trailer for the upcoming series six, and we're only just now recovering from all the insanity and awesomeness. But what's really going on in the new trailer? It's time to break this trailer down!
Before we get started, you may want to rewatch the trailer here, and you may also want to check out the earlier analysis we did of the trailer that aired after "A Christmas Carol." We're going to try our best to put all the new shots in this trailer in as much context as we can, including which episode it's from, the actors involved, and any previous spoilers and speculation we can bring to bear on what we're seeing. So yes, if you want to remain completely unspoiled for what lies ahead, turn away now!
This first image, incidentally, is another shot of the bearded Doctor we saw in the first trailer. He's being held captive at Area 51 and there's a lot of thought that this is "future" Doctor from further ahead in the "current" Doctor's timeline. It's from Steven Moffat's opening two-parter, of which the first episode is definitely called "The Impossible Astronaut" and the second is most likely "Day of the Moon." This is the sixties-set episode, River Song and Mark Sheppard are involved, the mysterious Silence makes its first real appearance after almost destroying reality last season, Richard Nixon is probably up to no good, and the early word is that this story is absolutely incredible, possibly an all-time classic. So, you know, no pressure.
