A lot of nifty stuff is hitting the stores tomorrow, but let's just pause for a moment and reflect on the innate weirdness of Alex "Epic Realism" Ross painting Voltron. Goodness, that's bizarre. Not as weird as his <em>League of Extraordinary Gentlemen/30 Rock</em> mash-up, but still plum hilarious. On to the comics!<!-- %JUMP:More &raquo;% --> <a href="http://io9.com/5865561/in-this-weeks-comics-the-defenders-and-voltron-return-and-moebius-and-alan-moore-go-back-in-print" title="Click here to read more about In this week's comics, the Defenders and Voltron return, and Moebius and Alan Moore go back in print!">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

One of the great science fiction films never made is Alejandro Jodorowsky’s <em>Dune</em>. In 1975, the playwright and director started work on an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s masterwork, which was to star the likes of Orson Welles, Salvador Dali, and Mick Jagger, use <a href="http://io9.com/337417/we-lost-out-on-gigers-dune-twice">designs by H.R. Giger</a>, and feature a soundtrack by Pink Floyd. Eventually the project was killed by lack of funds, but concept art by Jean “Moebius” Giraud offers a glimpse into what could have been. <a href="http://io9.com/5088014/costume-designs-and-storyboards-from-the-dune-that-never-was" title="Click here to read more about Costume Designs and Storyboards from the Dune That Never Was">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Ridley Scott's <i>Blade Runner</i> has claimed inspiration from <a href="http://io9.com/5017640/ridley-scott-admits-little-orphan-annie-inspired-blade-runner">many sources</a>, but these mid-1970s panels by legendary French illustrator Jean Giraud (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Giraud">pseudonym Moebius</a>) from his collaboration with Dan O'Bannon for <i>The Long-Tomorrow</i> are particularly evocative of the final product. Scott's artistic talents also emerge in the brilliant storyboards for the film, and Sci-Fi-O-Rama collects both <a href="http://blog.kierankelly.net/2008/09/29/ridley-scott-bladerunner-storyboard/">here</a>. <a href="http://io9.com/5059235/blade-runner-started-and-ended-as-a-comic-book" title="Click here to read more about Blade Runner Started, And Ended, As A Comic Book">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>
