NASA launches beautiful interactive gallery in recognition of Earth month

April is Earth month. To drum up public interest in both understanding and sustaining the planet, NASA has launched a great interactive image gallery that explores "Earth Science Highlights" in the form of stunning photographs and visualizations.

The arresting and often surprising multimedia collection includes photographs of and information on everything from Greenland's Ice Melt, to rising global temperatures, to Hurricane Isaac, to the Agency's mesmerizing global map of ocean saltiness. Above, a photo from the feature highlights the microscopic marine plants recently discovered blooming beneath Arctic ice floes.
