Guardians of the Galaxy

In an interview with MTV James Gunn gives a little insight into Rocket Raccoon:

It’s not about creating Bugs Bunny in the middle of The Avengers. It’s about creating a character that’s a little animal that’s taken and experimented on, pulled apart and put back together again and implanted with cybernetics. He’s half machine and half raccoon and he’s a little gnarled, miserable pretty angry creature because there’s nothing else like him and that’s not easy to be.

Star Trek 3

Co-writer Robert Orci in an interview at Comic-Con puts the kibosh of Zachery Quinto’s enthusiastic statement that the next movie will start filming in 2014, and that J.J. Abrams will probably still direct. It looks like the production team is still trying to figure out the logistics. Orci says, "I'd love to have J.J. back. We're still talking to Paramount about what the scheduling might be and if we can all do it together again, but yeah I read that too and I was like, 'Whoa, does [Quinto] know something I don't? I'd better call him.' He owes me a call." [Zap2It]

The Mummy

In the same interview, Robert Orci does confirm that The Mummy reboot will probably begin filming next year. Orci says, "We just got a great script by Jon Spaihts, and we're hoping to be shooting that in the new year. Our idea is to try and differentiate it from what's come before because we love those movies and don't want to just remake them, so how do you update it? So I think the idea is, yeah, do it now [in the present day]." [Zap2It]

I, Frankenstein

According to creator/writer, Kevin Grevioux, Frankenstein’s monster is going to be an action hero named Adam. Grevioux said:

We wanted to make more of an action hero. We haven't seen Frankenstein as an action movie yet. The story is an extrapolation of what Mary Shelley did. The monster is trying to have some sense of normalcy. God created man but he taught man morality, here Dr. Frankenstein created Adam and taught him nothing. Adam wants to know what it means to be human. It's about him trying to gain that sense of humanity and fit into society.

Ghostbusters 3

Director Ivan Reitman gives and update on Ghostbusters 3:

[I]f we can find a way to make a film that’s somewhat as magical as [Ghostbusters] finally turned out to be, then it’s worth making. If we can’t, then we probably won’t do it. And I think that’s really what’s been taking so damn long. We had a couple of scripts that were quite good, that we just didn’t think quite had it. And one of them was particularly centric to Bill, and we just couldn’t get him to read it. And so that one didn’t get made, even though it was pretty damn good. So we’ve been thinking of alternatives, and we’re actually making some real progress, and we’ll see what happens. That’s the most honest answer I can think of.

And also comments on how Bill Murray isn’t necessarily against Ghostbusters, he just doesn’t play these kinds of parts anymore.

Bill Murray has never actually read anything. He may have read ten pages at some point, but he’s never read a script. But he’s never been interested, either. That part is true. It wasn’t Ghostbusters in particular, it’s just, he’s been carrying on his life in a different way, in terms of the kind of parts that he’s wanted to pursue. I mean, he’s a really brilliant actor, comedian, personality. I’ve worked with him now five times, and I would love to work with him again. I’d hope that he could be in this film. He could be, he might not be, I really don’t know.

Obviously the movie is nowhere near filming as Dan Aykroyd would like us to believe, but it does appear work is actually being done on concept and script writing. [/Film]

12 Monkeys

In an effort to strengthen its original content, Syfy is working on a television adaptation of the film. Original movie producers Chuck Roven and Richard Suckle are working on a 90 minute backdoor pilot that would hopefully lead directly into a straight-to-series order. Terry Matalas (Nikita, Terra Nova, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Travis Fickett (Nikita, Terra Nova) are working on the script. Syfy president of original programming and co-head of original content at UCP Mark Stern says, "We have a great pilot. We're now flushing out what the rest of the series might be." The Walking Dead

Three new reoccurring roles are being cast:

The Winchester brothers need to be tight, to fend off the trials of the upcoming season, but Dean is keeping a huge secret from Sam — which actor Jensen Ackles says could throw “a massive wrench” in their relationship. “It even has a lot to do with why Sam’s still alive,” says co-star Jared Padalecki. Padalecki explains, “Dean is continuing to lie to Sam, and he’s hating it every step of the way.” [TV Line]

Executive producer Jeremy Carver teases the return of Charlie. He says, "We're going to see her early on in a really fun episode that delves back into the earliest days of the Men of Letters. Literally, the first two Men of Letters turning the key into a bunker that's never been used before in 1935. The first case they're coming up against involves The Wizard of Oz in a way that we've never really seen that story approached before." [TV Guide]
