I'm genuinely asking. Fast-forward to about 3:23 in the above video of Whoopi Goldberg's interview on The Tonight Show, and watch this first clip from the new live-action TMNT movie, which contains Megan Fox and Whoopi Goldberg, but no turtles. And then watch this dilemma unfold.
Knowing that there's going to be any moment in TMNT where I'll be forced to watch nothing but Megan Fox and Whoopi Goldberg interacting with each other is, frankly, soul-crushing. Watching the two of them talk about anything, even the Turtles themselves, is so opposite of what I want from a TMNT movie that it's painful to even consider.
At the same time, Megan Fox's plaintive explanation that the four, six-foot talking turtles she's seen are also ninja is so dumb, and the movie seems to know it's dumb, that I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous it is. And having this line delivered by Megan Fox makes it even funnier, because she gives it even less authority than pretty much any other human being on the planet would. (I.e., a serious person saying something ridiculous is funny. A ridiculous person saying something ridiculous as seriously as she can is hilarious.)
Could Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles be bad in the good way? Or at least the fun, non-waiting-desperately-for-the-movie-to-finally-end kind of way? I don't know. What do you guys think?
