Quick drabble:

Of the myths pertaining to the Vampyre these following are known true: they are killed by a stake of ash through the heart, or by decapitation; they shun the potent light of mid-day. But of the myth that they become mist, and can pass through the cracks of a door, this is a deception. For a mist cannot cause you harm; but they disperse into such a cloud of miniscule and biting insects as can suck the blood from you through your skin in a moment, and leave you drained from an uncounted multitude of pin-holes, one drop each.

@bookwench: They also suffer from OCD. As such, often people leave small objects(such as corn feed) and knots(because they have to be untied) around in order to slow down Vampires.

@bookwench: I can attest to this, coming from somewhere whose official bird is the mosquito.

Good show!

@WookieLifeDay: Didn't everybody?

However, I don't actually remember said episode...and was remembering this from some slasher film I saw..."Insert Name Here 2" all about vampires, priests, and a chosen girl.

@Illundiel: There was an episode where Mulder distracted a vampire by scattering sunflower seeds. It was actually a funny episode.

@bookwench: How big of a stake must you use? Could you, just hypothetically speaking, drive a small plug of ash into the nose of a 10mm semi-jacketed hollowpoint round and use a Glock Model 20 as a anti-vampire defensive weapon? Just askin'.

@Chip Overclock: Have you ever seen the BBC miniseries "Ultraviolet"? Absolutely no relation to the stinker movie of the same name... they used carbon bullets. It was fantastic. One of the most brilliant updates on the concept of the vampire I've ever seen.

I swear the vampires from Being Human are the same general universe.

@bookwench: I loved that miniseries so much I bought the DVD set.

@AmishJohn: Meh.: I've read some articles where reloaders experimented with silver. Apparently it doesn't do well, unfortunately.

@Gaudy Mouse Muad'Dib: Nope, Manitoba. You wouldn't think it, because we're not that humid, but a lot of standing water = a lot of the little biters.

@Log1c: That article made it sound a lot more workable than others I've read. Maybe there's hope after all!

#observationdeck
@Chip Overclock: Me too. I remember seeing it on sci-fi way back about a decade ago. Excellent stuff.

#observationdeck
@Log1c: Oh wow. I did not know that about the sulfur in the atmosphere. Amazing stuff. Thanks!

#observationdeck
@bookwench: I love this. To me it hints at something even more horrifying that mosquitoes and bedbugs.
