"@dwroth: A mild clarification: jEdit is a Java app, so it should run on any platform that supports Java (including Mac and Linux).
My only beef with it is that the once active jEdit development community seems to have disappeared."
"@ryn05: Wow - that's awesome!
I slimmed down to a front wallet some time ago, but I still carry around a few seldom-used items (Blockbuster card, insurance card) because you just never know when you'll need them.
One tip: The credit cards sit horizontally in pockets, and it's hard to pull them out by their smooth top edges."
"Disclaimer: I haven't read the book 2001, but I saw the movie, and the monolith ain't no obelisk.
Also spracht Wikipedia: "An obelisk (Greek ὀβελίσκος [obeliskos], diminutive of ὀβελός [obelos], "needle") is a tall, narrow, four-sided, tapering monument which ends in a pyramidal top""
"Along the lines of danomite's takeaway:
Often, I have to use email to explain technical issues to a mixed audience: Some want the details, others just want to know broadly what the problem was, and (hopefully) that it's fixed.
My solution has been to divide the email into a "Short Version:" section with a quick summary, followed by a "Long Version" with the details for those who want to read them.
Of course, it's important to make sure that any critical info (questions that need answers, actions the recipients must perform) are in the "Short Version."
I like this better than writing two separate emails, because then everyone has the same information, if they want it."
