I LOVE idioms and notice I use them very frequently. I've also noticed they can go out of style, I guess? You have NO idea how many people ask me what it means when I say "Lose my own head if it wasn't screwed on!" when I'm flustered.

I think the Bechdel Test is good in theory, but it just annoys me in practice. Kill Bill, for example, fails it because the women are all talking about a guy (they want to violently kill). I mean, it shouldn't be so black and white. Does context not count for something?
I have a question about SCIENCE. Also about trains. BUT MAINLY SCIENCE.
Okay, so, I take a train everyday to work. And today I started wondering... if a train is moving forward on a track and you jumped while riding inside it, would you land in the same place or would the train continue to move while you were in the air for that half a second?
Some very minor googling on my iPhone on the train ride home tonight didn't give me much in the way of an answer... (I was too exhausted to read and this is where my brain went today. I really wish I had payed more attention in science class...)

I always think it's so utterly charming how celebrities all go to pieces over the Muppets and similar puppets and talk to them like they're real people. It's so endearing. Sure, it's really a felt puppet with a talented person's hand up it's bottom, but they really come ALIVE and I just love watching the interactions. Fascinating and heartwarming.
