Star Trek, Bond, and Batman are over 30 years old, not three.
The differences are that

1. Star Trek, Bond, and Batman are all over 3 years old. Spawn is around 10 years old, society hasn't changed that much comparatively.
2. People other than the original creators are doing the reboot. I don't think an original creator can effectively reboot their creation. I don't think they have the necessary distance to make the kinds of changes needed.

If I remember correctly Case wasn't bursting with emotion either. Although I was far more interested in Molly at the time. Their choice for her and how they will portray her is far more important to me.
