Epaminondas commented on Dems Launch Net Neutrality Bill, GOP Says "Hands Off the Poor ISPs!" @mauser: I'm certainly a pro-business capitalist who hates regulation, but what we have here is a bill that forces ISP's to provide untampered access to the internet. That's a censorship issue, and private institutions HAVE NO BUSINESS making any decisions related to that. I personally think that not only does that need to be law, it belongs in the constitution.

Oh and to those of you complaining about being able to surf while I'm on Xbox Live or playing Battlefield on the PC, seriously, you can piss right off. If the ISP's have over promised bandwidth based on faulty formula's or wishful thinking our collective issues are with them, not each other.

Epaminondas commented on A Buck Rogers Movie, Sin City Style Some fracking 50 something man-child thinks what a great idea it would be if we remade King Kong, or Flash Gordon, or now Buck Rogers. You know, because they thought it was so great when I was they were kids. No one wants to belly-up to the fact the target market these days couldn't care less about these dead franchises. At best you get something like King Kong, that at least had enough CGI to keep you from falling asleep, but you usually get a PC remake of what were horribly racist characters who wind up changed so much you have to ask yourself what was the point of using the source material in the first place.

Does no one remember all three of these were remade in the 70's 80's and they sucked (commercially at least)then too?

Epaminondas commented on What's The Best Scifi Show To Get Your Kid Hooked On? @Velireon: Where are the peeps out there that want their kids to understand the depths of Minbari and Narn philosophies?

Thanks, but I'm worried about my daughter's ability to repel shitty dialog of that magnitude. B5's biggest weakness is the same as TNG, a complete inability by the writers to do anything other than stock dialog. I've no argument with the big picture (again same as TNG), which sounds like what your into but wow I shudder when watching some of those episodes now.

We are starting with the Dragonriders of Pern.

Epaminondas commented on Do We Need Graphic Torture in Our Dystopias? I toured a Castle (Warwick) in Emgland and they let you go down in the dungeon. Small room, one window, you just knew some nasty $hit had gone down in there, but I still have no problem with torture if it furthers the story/seems plausable. I just don't get torture porn though, not bothered by it so much as I think it's kind of dumb...

I also don't think the curb scene in AHX was torture, it was more of an execution, and not an undeserved one at that.
