Yyyeah, I'm going to have to say if you're hitting people in the groin while sparring that seems... excessive. (Then again, I thought people also avoided blows to the head while sparring for pretty similar reasons. o.O) #observationdeck
I GOT IT, I GOT IT! MWWWWWWWWWAHAHAHAHAH~! #observationdeck
...Why do you have that and I don't?

Why do you have that and I don't!? #observationdeck

Yeaaaah I can't believe they're actually putting Kai Leng mcstupidface in the game. He wasn't even a very good character in Kaphsyn's novels. (Actually, I didn't like any of the ME books, but that's a rant for another day).

But yeah--I mean, the 'She's autistic but she's SUPER POWERFUL and also the Quarians love her' was a bit silly to begin with... having her get over it? Just... wow.

Prettttty obvious Deitz writes novels like these to cash paychecks and gives exactly zero fucks about what he's writing about. #observationdeck

This is also his final episode. #observationdeck
PC gaming is DEAAADD . DEAAD. Nobody wants to buy an adventure game. There's just no money there. And nobody bothers to put money up for a game when they can have it for free.

Off topic though, this should be a very interesting ride. Those supporting Schafer have become, in a weird way, investors (okay so they don't share profits--unless you count the product they're getting 'profits'--it means Schafer and his crew are largely answering to the people who invested in this product. Hell, this is a whole new kind of pre-ordering, as we're pre-ordering a game likely only in the design stage. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Frankly I think Schafer could use a break after Brutal Legend (The way the whole thing played out has to sting), so I look forward to seeing what he can Gilbert will do in their playground... especially with a million god-damned dollars. #observationdeck

Put up the request today...
1/4 of the way there.

I love the gaming community sometimes.

(Also, money donated).

Portland has a pretty decent movie scene, so there's an off chance it'll make it there. All bets are off with the rest of the state, though.

Found poking around Phill Platt's articles (Not one of his).

It's great, but I've never seen so many pissed off 'hardcore Comic book fans.' I had almost forgotten that in some comic book circles it's a god-damn sin to suggest that Superman has struggled to maintain his audience, comic book sales be damned. (inb4 some fan points out that Action comics sold really well after the reboot). #observationdeck
That's a wonderful cataloging of sensations, both evocative and utterly terrifying. I find it particularly interesting that you noticed how quickly your brain kicked into rationalization mode--a story so completely absurd if you think about it for even a second, which is exactly how it works.

The only experience I can even remotely relate to this is being half 'conscious' (I have trouble sleeping at times). I can remember fragments of words, disjointed contents of a sort of stream of consciousness vividly--but after I wake up fully, I start to realize that none of the thoughts connect into coherence--even for a second. The very first thing that my brain does is try to impose some kind of narrative. Some reason they came up.

It sounds like a much more severe case of it. Ugh. unsettling. #observationdeck

ME Demo next week. Whee! MP on Friday, double whee! Might be a good time to start figuring out who's playing on what if fellow Niners want to try out crushing a few Reapers. #observationdeck
Some sort of gullibility/stubborn index? One could make an mild case for Lawful/Chaotic sort of encompassing that, but consider a lawful good character who can be swept up by certain strong emotions and end up actually appearing as an evil alignment. Something that represents how a character might be swayed by say, group behavior, rhetoric. Far end of the spectrum means a person can be easily swayed to another point, if temporarily, whereas extreme stubbornness simply can not be convinced of whatever conclusion they've come to (essentially legitimizing the infamous 'lawful stupid.' ) #observationdeck
It's also worth noting that the 9th circuit court of appeals has a bad track record in terms of having their decision reversed. We can only hope that this particular issue is strong enough that the court bucks that particular trend (and if there's any justice in the god-damn world, it will, because the banning on same sex marriage is god-damn bigotry, and no amount of rationalization makes it otherwise. ) #observationdeck
I dunno. If they were a couple it happened after Loeb took over, since Barton was married with children in the Ultimates (Though... that ended in Ultimates 2). (I stopped following after Loeb took over though--I don't doubt they paired off).
In fairness, the ratings on Voyager and Enterprise destroyed the ratings of the franchise and more or less ensured that it was no longer commercially viable--even if you liked either series, it still means 'Until it turns out to be a franchise that seems to drive viewers away in droves.' (Voyager was about as 'bad' as early seasons of TNG IMO. Enterprise... though? Yeah, not with you on that.)
The problem with, with Iron Man, you really only have a few Iron Man types to draw on: Among them 'Fetch me my brandy and a bunch of beautiful women RIGHT NOW!'-esque Millar Iron Man from the Ultimates (which... actually would be wildly entertaining), the fairly cardboard Tony Stark from the comics (with arguably maybe an outlier or two who would be even remotely interesting).

I think it's a matter of taste. I mean, he's different enough from say, Batman's portrayal (who, if anything, could use a little god-damn levity IMO. Not so much Adam West, but... you know, at least TAS Batman--he's allowed a little sarcastic humor, damn it).
