@Ghost_in_the_Machine: a dinosharktopus is way to scary for my taste. Why not "12 Angry Molds" or "Citizen Mold"?
@mordicai: be not afraid, for I have it planned out oh so well! On the dark side of the moon there shall be earth' repository for nuclear arms. As earth ethnicities and nations find their common enemy (=the evil astroids from out of space), we will bring our weapons on a lunar station and point them toward the black abyss. There ist one problem though: in order for the moon to not change course after a launch, we do need to put a rocket drive on our side of the moon and hope no secret service put a launchpad for nukes there. But still, it could work out!
@Biku: well, you´re welcome ;-)
@Biku: finally? we have to put up with this guy for years now... you might even remember him from sister act:

@Brobama Tito Brohey the Third: fun fact: If you pronounce Ms. John Soda in her native language (german) it says: mission soda
@Franknbeans: I only read an introduction by Polkinghorne, but I thought he made it clear, that we cannot use this phenomenon for communication, because: As with many things in the quantum world, it has to be observed by us in order to have a definit outcome. In the case of the EPR-effect the correlation between what happens in 1 and what happens in 2 only gives us information if we already know what happens in 1 and 2. Polkinghorne gives an example with musicians: Guitarist 1 plays a random melody, guitarist 2 plays also a random melody. Now we can only be certain that they play in harmony, when we hear both of them playing at the same time. If you take the example with the deck of cards (from a few comments down the page): If you in the US and I in Germany have such a deck of cards, we only know for certain that our decks are "behaving" the same way, if we´re having a video conference at the same time to assess that our decks are actually "behaving" the same way. Thus, the EPR-effect does not allow for instant communication, because it already need to be communicated. (this is Polkinghorne of 2002. Maybe everything changed in the past 8 years -- and, Roklimber, please feel free to add or correct any of the above statements)
Aliens vs Predator was always a good setting. You just have to do a good job on it. I remember playing AvP 2 and it scared the shit out of me. Well, at least as I was playing marines. As an Alien I was the one to scare the shit out of the marines! The feel to it was just right. And the lone hunter feeling of the predator was also so much fun. This game seems to tie in nicely with the previous game.
@Bill-Lee: I like that. Novys view seems a bit simplistic. Batman cannot exist without the Joker? So, what about the Pinguine? Catwoman? And all the other crazy people of Gotham City? Your approach allows for a whole pantheon of freakish Gods. This Novy guy should look into that. What makes every nemesis special? How they might translate into existing belive systems etc... I mean, what´s he doing philosophy for, if he´s just stating the obvious?
if it is fueled by duracell, sure. #zombocalypsenow
@Pope John Peeps II: That German guy ;-) Well, the name´s Philip. And I like where you´re taking this discussion. I like art, as well as I like the humanities (=the sciences of culture, right?). Both are heavely prejudiced against by pragmatist because they don´t see the inner value of those "disciplines"(?). Still, I think there are limitations on how far they can go. The humanities must obey the scientific spirit of truthfulness and scientific accuracy. The arts on the other hand are not governed by anything but the artist him/herself. I love new and modern architecture. I love what the saudies (and certain asien states) are doing; building vetreous monuments just for the sake of it. But as I said, I think there still lies a problem within. 1) If you call something a library (eg. in order to get financing) it should be a library. If you wanna build a Möbius Strip-shaped (or brain-shaped) library, it still should obey certain core elements of a library. One main feature would be: Students should be able to study there. If we go down this road, at one point the library (which was given money for by the government or the university) will not be a library anymore but only art. I can only speak for myself, but as a student who goes to the Freie Universität (FU) and has to use the Brain (pun appreciated), this library does indeed hinder my studies: I don´t like being there. So being all artsy and stuff, I still think a library should in fact be a library 2 ) If they make it math library I love it. 1) still applies though. 3) "Art points to things, art enlivens things. It enriches our experience of the world around us." It does. But does that implie art should be everywhere? Just because it´s art? Just because you think not everybody appreciates the facts you state? Art has its places in the world. At home, in museums, on squares, in streets, also crafted in buildings as Hundertwasser reveals in many of his works ([de.wikipedia.org]). But Hundertswasser is also so great because he accomplishes to combine funcionality and art. Why should we allow artists to build us a reality which is not functional anymore (I exaggerate)? I want to write more, but my brother´s sitting next to me and we wanna watch two Discworld movies. Reaper Man ftw! To be continued… ;-)
@Pope John Peeps II: The point of being a library? I live in Berlin, where we have the "brain", one of the main libraries of the "Freie Universität". It also looks pretty sci-fi. At the end of my post you´ll find a google-picture-search. The library has one problem though. It is not fit for students to study there. First of all it has neither enough lockers, nor seats. Great stuff! The airconditioning is pretty innovative, but you still get headaches studying there. The air feels electrified or charged or something. I dont know exactly what it is. The last major issue is the constant background noise. The library is one huge bubble. Nothing breaks the noise. It´s terrible. Being a nice building architecturewise, it completly misses the point of being a place to study. It seems to me, Henderson will be right with his prediction. [images.google.de]
@Forsakenchild: I also saw the vampire as a girl. The mutilation-scene was short enough for me to presume, that she(!) had a horrible past, where someone sewed her vagina for some archaic reason. It seemed to more of an hint of how old the vampire might be...
@bonniegrrl: No, it´s really fake. Don´t you see they are using puppets?
It´s so obvious! What´s wrong with you people!?
@cowboy_k: I always loved how the wallpaper (the actual wallpaper in the picture)looks like a witch, with a really long nose, sneaking up on him.
@darkkn1te: planet of the vampires is by far the most boring movie I´ve ever seen. Luckily Alien didn´t copy that aspect of PotV...
@ParryLost: The point of relativity, as far as I understand it, is:
To be able to measure anything, to be able to say and perceive anything about the world at all, you need to make a decision about *geometry* and *universal forces*. If you pinpoint the geometry (to lets say the G_0: the Euclidian geometry), then you will find certain universal forces.
On the other hand, if you pinpoint the universal forces (to lets say F_0: There are no universal forces), then you will get a certain geometry. This is what Einstein did for physics. He used the knowledge gained from Poincaré, Bolyai and others and applied it to physics.

So as far as I learned it and as far it makes sense to me, the term relativity means above all, that relative to your decision about the geometry OR about universal forces, the other part of the equation is determined:

G + F = const ( = reality / observed reality)

Thus, the whole point is not that reality itself is relative, but that our description or perception of reality is relative. The reality itself is very much fixed.

So as far as I remember I´d say you are wrong with your assumption about "points in time".
One thing which comes to my mind thinking about that stuff is, that time will go slower when you´re far away from massive objects like the earth. This I never really grasped and I don´t know how this contributes to the discussion. It could be just something we have to deal with, when we abandon universal forces...but I don´t know...
