@TheDarkWayne: Always worth bearing in mind, though: The first page of Batman RIP is Batman saying "You're wrong! Batman and Robin will never die!" I don't know how much more obviously he could've signposted the ending right from the start, even if anyone had thought that DC would consider killing him off in the first place.
@TheDarkWayne: I'm not sure why it's Morrison's "fault" for writing a story the way he wanted...? Personally, I think that Final Crisis ending with the reveal that Batman is alive makes perfect sense thematically: It's literally the happy ending that Superman wished for, a few pages earlier.
@Pope John Peeps II: It's been a while since I read the end of Morrison's X-Men, but wasn't Xorneto plot a double metacommentary on the old X-Men stories? That Xorn turns out to be Magneto is a shout-out to classic Marvel soap opera the same way that the Emma/Scott/Jean love triangle is ("My best friend is... MY ENEMY!"), and also part of the commentary on how old/boring/overfamiliar/nonsensical Magneto is as a villain (I'm pretty sure that becomes text during the story, with a character complaining that Magneto is a thing of the past? Someone who's read it more recently, am I misremembering?) - It's *meant* to appear somewhat ridiculous, because it's demonstrating the ridiculousness of what we as readers were used to.
@Discodave: R.O.A.C.H. M.O.T.E.L.: Someone namechecked Technoccult at WonderCon this weekend during a panel. There was a room of confused DC fans, and Douglas Wolk and I both surprised as hell.
@OgilvyTheAstronomer: DC and Marvel can't "give up on continuity" - It's the selling point for the majority of both of their lines, for many (most?) fans.
@Discodave: R.O.A.C.H. M.O.T.E.L.: Whoever else is reading this is now probably very confused. Whereas I am in complete mid-90s indie rock nostalgia mode.
@Discodave: R.O.A.C.H. M.O.T.E.L.: If you don't remember me and Tina dancing to the Spice Girls on a fairly regular then your cheap beer really HAS destroyed too many brain cells, good sir.
@Razoky: I'll be going... places...?
Sorry to be vague, but some are uncertain, and some aren't officially announced. A couple that I CAN say right now: I'm back at Savage Critics doing comic book reviews tomorrow and then throughout the week ([www.savagecritic.com]) and I have a post at Comics Alliance ...tomorrow, I think. ([www.comicsalliance.com])
@RavenNemain: Hey! I didn't make that, the godhead known as Garrison Dean did, and he's sticking around. Well, as much as an elusive head of a real-life ring of ne'er-do-wells sticks around anywhere...
@evildead1971: The success of Mark Millar, proving that loud mouthed Scots can be ridiculously successful despite their accents, has tempted me to begin my new work as a superhero. But close, though.
