This is when I miss the 4" straight pipe exhaust on my F350. REV "what did you say?" REV ""What was that?" REV "Didn't hear you." REV
Yay, replicators for all! Tea, earl grey, hot.

..man, that was too nerdy for even me.

Cut him some slack, he's an engineer.
And, well you know, the Force.
How about open source whatever it is you do for a living, too?
Apples newly announced services are for K-12, not Higher Ed. Completely different system and business model.
Yes, already being done by several publishers in the Higher Ed realm, including note cards, flashcards, quizzing, and assessment. Apple's announcements today are K-12 books where those things aren't as prevalent, not Higher Ed books.
These are K-12 books, NOT Higher Ed books. The announcement today had nothing to do with Higher Ed.
Wrong. This is a K-12 initiative. Pearson, McGraw Hill are hemorrhaging money in their K-12 divisions and see this as a new revenue stream possibility. This is not for Higher Ed. Even iTunesU is VERY limited in the Higher Ed world, and this is bringing it to more K-12 sources.
This is targeted at K12, not Higher Ed. Totally different markets.
This is clearly targeted at K-12, and not Higher Ed. Why when people see "textbook" do people assume higher ed textbooks?
Ah, of course.

I still have my '99 New Edge, too. And you're right that there are so many of them out there that are ragged out and ugly. My '99 lives in my dads bog 6 car garage now, but its a very clean one. I also think the Mach1 was the best looking of that bunch. though Terminators are cool also.
Right, and what so YOU drive again?
Late 90's? No, 2005. The 99-04 was the "New Edge" styling, and hardly retro. So it hasn't been around as long a you think.

If the '14 is very good, I will consider trading in my '11 GT. But my '11 GT is a very good car, so it will have to be something special.
My dad bought one of these brand new back then. I vaguely remember riding around in it as a kid. But outside of the few Polaroid pictures left, I don't really remember it. Now his 70 Mach1 and his Torino GT I both remember well because when my sister and I rode in the back seat we couldn't hear each other talk. The first time I heard him fire up that Torino with the new long tube headers he installed, I jumped in the air and nearly peed myself.

If I was some super rich guy who won the lottery or was an oil baron, I'd buy my dad all the cool cars he had to give up when he lost his factory job and had to scrounge to support his family in the early 80's. I'd even buy him this one. Because it was the last cool car he owned, and he ended up selling it shortly after he had bought it when they closed up the factory. But that's the only scenario I could see paying this kind of money for that car. I've seen several in the local Auto Trader for under a grand, though they were in pretty bad shape.
KY also has brand new Taurus SHO completely unmarked police cars. I nearly got dinged by 2 of them in the past week. #oppositelock
You haven't heard only because you're not a 2011-12 Mustang GT owner. Once you drop a lot of money on something, you pay closer attention to the details. They are some of the first and most often threads you will see on any Mustang forum. And I'm well aware of how engines and brakes should sound and act, thanks. If you didn't catch my above partial list, I've owned and worked on a lot of Fords. Ford was instructing dealers to put GEAR OIL in the new Coyote engines to quiet them down last year. Sound normal to you? No, its not. Feel free to browse any of the many Mustang forums and read other lengthy threads by other owners.

To be clear, outside of minor annoyances, I love my 5.0L GT to death. I just fear that if anything goes terribly wrong that Ford doesn't have my back. I'm specifically not modding anything until the warranty is up just to break it in. I knew going in that the Coyote was very green. But I had waited a long time for this engine to be released and weighed the consequences before buying it.

And there was a blue Raptor at my dealer that I came very very close to buying as well when I picked up my Mustang. So it comes full circle and all. But I didn't have anywhere to really drive it like it deserved. Though it seems like Ford now intended it to be driven to the grocery store and mall and back home again instead of proper off road like they advertised.
That's nice of them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went back with it came to dollars. Did you know the Super Snake Shelby GT500 is sold with its warranty voided by Ford brand new? Gotta really watch them now. I used to feel that if I was loyal to them, they would be loyal to me. But I've learned they really don't give a crap about me or what I drive.

now if you're talking bolt on bodykit stuff or stickers, I'm sure the warranty would be intact ... for now.
Honestly, I don't know anyone with a GT500 who HASN'T taken it to the track at least once. And I'm a member of several Mustang communities, so I know several of them.
