What's the rule in the gay community? I think that would be a great template for straight folks to follow since it removes all the gender bullshit.
Yeah, if you're in the courting stage of the relationship where all the "who pays" crap means anything, how can you possibly know which individual makes more?
Of course I don't want to pay. But it's not because I'm a lady, it's because I'm a selfish asshole who wants to save her money.

By Kelly's logic, a man should only pay if he's fathered a child with the lady. I will immediately demand that my husband start paying for all dinners. Out of our joint checking account. Wait a minute...
I'm certainly not saying it doesn't happen, and yours is a case where it was medically necessary. But if baby and mom are healthy, inducing labor can have negative consequences. [www.hencigoer.com]
Ugh, under-ripe babies are the worst!
Inducing also greatly increases the chance that labor will stall out and a C-section will be necessary. Your body is ready when it's ready, it's pretty rare that your body would fail to go into labor when the time is right. I went 41 weeks with my baby and that last week was mental and physical agony, let me tell you. But not in a million years would I have let my doctor induce unless it was medically necessary.
I love movies and books like this, plus anything post-apocalyptic or zombie-y. But I always wonder, would I actually want to survive just to have to live in the hellish aftermath? I think the answer is no. Gwyneth's character is the lucky one if you ask me.
Not opening anything is my one piece of advice to expectant parents now that I've gone through it. We had all kinds of stuff that we ended up returning. Like you, we learned the hard way. My kiddo spent about 1 week in newborn stuff because of her length. Also, baby clothes are mostly stupid.
I really wish all the people who paid attention to this case day in and day out gave one tenth of the same energy to preventing child abuse in their own areas. Every day children are neglected and abused, often by parents who were never equipped to have them in the first place. I live in Milwaukee, where the infant mortality rate is higher than some third world countries. Don't get me started on the racial aspect of this stat.

To be frank, I think it's easier for folks to mourn this little girl who is completely removed from them that to face the fact that shit like this is happening in their own back yard.
The long and short of it: yes, an above-ground pool is somewhat trashy.
She did, they showed a picture of the In Touch article and she says that it was all made up and she's considering suing them for slander. It's libel, dear, but whatever.
It would be something different, though not necessarily better or worse. Your friend was once a little girl herself, so in some ways a boy is a mystery and maybe that is exciting for her. I know my husband feels that way about having a daughter.
I have a new bebeh. She was planned for and came into our lives under pretty much ideal circumstances. She's easy-going, sleeps through the night, has no health problems. I couldn't ask for more. And you know what? It's fucking hard. For the first 4 weeks I cried every. single. day. I love her more than I can express, but sometimes I want to run away and hide, because it is such hard work. And I'm fully equipped to raise her! I have a fully involved partner, financial means, good job to go back to in a few weeks, etc.

When I see teenage girls on my daily "caring for an infant is overwhelming, must leave the house" walks, I want to grab them and tell them to wait. I want to tell them that they and their future children deserve better than getting knocked up by an asshat before they are ready. I cannot imagine doing this when I was 16, 18, hell even at 23 I would have been too immature.

Mostly I want to teach my daughter to be awesome, because teenagers mostly suck and in 12 years and 11 months, she's going to be one. Shit.
He could have married somebody who converted. Prince Phillip was once upon a time Prince Phillip of Greece and Denmark. He was Greek Orthodox until converting to Anglicanism to marry Elizabeth II. And that was back in the 1940s.
@Flackette Knits A Lot: I have no insight, but perhaps they protesters are focusing on the more prominently-located clinic because they're get more visibility. I imagine protesting abortion clinics is as much about instilling fear in the general public as it is about intimidating the women and providers.
@Zulkey: I'm pregnant and when I saw this in the theater, I got all "My little girl is going to kick ass just like Mattie!"

Then I cried, blamed my husband, stormed out of the theater and ate an entire bucket of fried chicken alone in the car.*

*Fictionalized for dramatic effect.
@nrich: Well, and Tootsie is an awesome movie.

My parents still complain that they missed an episode of Magnum PI when my mom had my sister. No DVRs back then!
@PennyFarthing: I think some people just assume that all pregnant ladies are delicate flowers who can't do anything physical. Hence the shock when I tell people that my husband and I share the responsibility of shoving snow (I'm 6 months along and still feeling great).
