Seems to me that this would provide a huge amount of geothermic energy that could be used. If there is indeed a "gigantic"resevior of water, briny or not, it could easily be used to drive turbine and through further application of volcanic heat, it could be desalinated.
I never thought I'd see the day when Stop The Planet of the Apes, I Want To Get Off would sound like a rational and plausible idea for a play. To bad Troy Donahue is gone...is James Fransiscus working?
Are the PS One games ported to Android or are they run through an emulator? Since it's based off a modified Linux kenel, will this help in porting new games to other Linux platforms?
@Thrubeingcool:I honestly haven't seen it since I was maybe 6 or 7, so my memory of the show is probably more than a little subjective. I've rewatched a couple shows that I was completely addicted to as a kid (e.g. Krofft Supershow) that blew my mind with how ridiculously stupid they were.
Has anyone seen the BBC dramatization of "A Canticle For Leibowitz"? According to Wikipedia, it was made in 1993. I was wondering if it was any good or if it's available. I think that and maybe "The Earth Abides" would make a great mini-series.
I remember watching The Starlost as a kid and thinking how awesome it would be to live on that ship. I don't know if it technically qualifies as a PA show, but the plot revolved around "the destruction of Earth".
At any rate, it more than likely influnced Metamorphosis Alpha which spawned Gamma World.
@grimjack28: I forgot about that! Sounds like a great project, I'm sure someone's already thought of it somewhere. It's not like we'll be able to wait around for Brother Francis to fall ass-backward into the next cave.
@anuran001: Thanks! Those are some great resources, my favorites wer "The Impoverished Radio Experimenter" and especially the UNESCO Traditional Knowledge Database. I wish they had a shop class in middle and high school dedicated to this sort of thing.
I really need to compile a bunch of instructions on simple technologies and survival skills and then put together a fully indexed and easy to read manual that I can pass down to my kids. Everything from how to conjure fire, to the above mentioned Archimedes and water wheels, to edible plants natives to various regoins of the country. Hell for all I know, there's one out there already. They may never need to use it, but having it around would give me peace of mind.
I have to admit I haven't watched all that much of Clone Wars, but I'm wondering if the name Heroes On Both Sides doesn't foreshadow the ultimate fate of Ahsoka. Could she eventually become disillusioned with the Jedi council and the direction of the Republic at large?
Qui-Gon seemed to be a bit of a maverick himself and although faithful to the Order and the Republic, one wonders if he didn't see this, at least in part, coming.
Perhaps we'll see Ahsoka defect or foresee where Anakin is heading...unfortunately to her undoing.
We should have attempted a trip to Mars decades ago. Every penny spent in pursuing knowledge and expanding the reach of mankind serves makes us richer, not the other way around.
We took our first step outward with the Moon, it's time we took the next step.
@iKaz: @Fossum206: I wish he would continue to at least do the covers and it'd be great if he did a side story as well, with different characters. I agree that Moore's art, despite being more cartoony for lack of a better term, projected the emotions of the characters much better. I can see why a darked touch may have been desired considering the storyline.
