This thing was crap. Don't install it.
Yeah, i don't know what they were thinking here. Either Hollywood thinks audiences will be scared off by a movie lead that actually is "Persian", or they still think it's okay for white people to portray other races. PoP bugs me, but Airbender bothers me the most :-p
Not good a bending slime, but good at bending race. LOL
The casting sheet says "Caucasian or any other ethnicity", not "Caucasians and Other Ethnicities." Misquoted from the misquoting UGO
What a load of crap. I can see why the casting was so screwed up; he has such an ignorant view of anime, in general.
@bibble3000: "racist for talking about the movie"? I don't get that one.
@bibble3000: The point is, the characters were not white(I know some will argue that) but the casting call asked for "Caucasian or any other ethnicity": it just plain looks bad. There are so many white protagonists in Hollywood already, and I don't think anyone would care if they asked for "asian"(and what have you) bcz PoC are so underrepresented anyways. It's not that they turned Asian-Americans away for the part, it's that they didn't directly want them to begin with: This was such a huge missed opportunity.
I would encourage everyone to take a real hard look at the discrimination that went into these casting decisions, and Hollywood's history with whitewashing. This is not an isolated incident, either. Here:[www.racebending.com] ... and here:[www.racebending.com] ... r-first-super-bowl-ad-first-look/ If you wish to remain uninformed on the subject, fine; but if you develop an understanding for yourself and still insist on supporting this film, you are turning a blind eye on decades of racism and discrimination in Hollywood.
Still not liking the discriminatory casting decisions.
@Akitsu: LOL silly. I'm not going to see this movie. Just bcz you can overlook the discriminatory casting doesn't mean I can. And do you know what would work better than your idea? How about getting my shirt, that I already have, and going down and standing out front of the theaters and talking with people about it before they go into the theater to see it. You're ideas are those of the blind trying to lead those who can clearly see. racebending.com
@Akitsu: "In the end boycotting the movie only ensures no future Last Airbender movies will ever see production." –Good. That's exactly the way it should be. Why support a film that we believe to be morally wrong. I'm sure you'd feel different if the film-makers actually came out and said, "We're going to hire white actors in place of asian/inuit actors because we think that it would sell more tickets."
I would encourage people to look into the controversy behind M. Night's latest film, before "getting excited" over its release. racebending.com
That was horrible!
@DaiWalka: I agree. I have nothing against anyone raising kids, but this story is silly and slanted. It seems like a morality tale for little children.
