Do want... if they figure out how I can play all my steam games and a FPS without streaking up the screen in the first two seconds of the game. The could add a forward facing camera with eye tracking... it sounds fancy but the tech is pretty well developed.
Also keep in mind the good 'ol E=MC^2. Change it around to M=E/C^2 and essentially you have a basis for Star Trek style replicators. Lower that denominator (by controlling the speed of light) and you make it a lot easier.
@BlackYoshi: The 'PSR' rating system for matching and balancing really needs to be tweaked. My beef is that the people who are the biggest jerks are usually the same ones joining games with much lower average PSR's than their own because they can't handle the higher tiers.
HoN does have a "Noob Only" game tier that unfortunately is both underused and abused. These factors will be smoothed hopefully as the beta progresses.
I don't think spectator was ever meant to be an important item for the casual gamer. It's available for commentators doing webcasts of league matches.
I played DotA for years and now play 100% HoN. I did try out League of Legends as well but the gameplay was way too simplistic. HoN offered a smoother transition between platforms.
HoN is competitive... sometimes too much. It is tough to take up if you are not playing with experienced friends (who will also yell at you). If you don't like that then I also recommend you stay away from 95% of online gaming (pvp). I understand it is still in beta but I hope they get around to "quickmatch" options sooner or later to help the imbalances that come from teams of 3-5 people versus 5 random strangers.
Kotaku readers should start an in game clan... hmm.. if any of you want to play keep a lookout for "Magnavox" (usually -ar or -sd games).
newgrounds.com is my favorite flash site. Generally it's one of the first places any flash developer posts their movies, skits, games, etc. I have always been a fan of flash projects and this is my go-to site to see what trends are hitting the web (and what all college students will be wasting time with next week).
It will be interesting to see if League of Legends wins over the almost direct copy of DotA, Heroes of Newerth. I've played HoN beta and it brings all the goodness I feel with DotA and then some. LoL's beta did not do the same for me. #leagueoflegends
Guys I'm going to blatently plug where I get all my cables from (audio / video /etc.) - monoprice.com. I have never seen any cable prices lower (consistently). I just bought a 15' hdmi, 6' component, and 6' optical cable for $12 (inc. shipping).
Again, monoprice.com
(later receives bags of internet monies in the mail)
@junyo: Like the keys, the shape is not the issue in 3D printing or rapid prototyping. The strength of the material is the limiting factor. The strongest material I have seen is a mixture of nylon and carbon that is laser sintered. As for getting past a metal detector... you better find a reliable spring and firing pin that has a small magnetic profile.
@GitEmSteveDave_HasANewiPodTouch: On the Smith & Wesson key - I have used several rapid prototyping machines from the fab-at-home to selective laser sintering. All of them can make that key. The question is how strong it needs to be, not what shape. The key (get it?) in printing the S&W shape is starting with the tip as the base and building up from there. It's simple to design supports (often they are computer generated) to take care of the larger top loop.
