Honestly, I love LOST to much to the point that they could have fed me anything and I would have enjoyed but I do agree with a lot things in the post. I didn't care about the plane leaving because I kept seeing all those characters going back to nothing, especially Richard.

The only thing I have a problem with is that I think the flash sideways kind of took away from the show. I'm probably against the masses in saying that I actually liked the last 15 minutes, but only if I don't include it as part of the show. I think it did a good job of reinforcing the idea that the show is about characters coming together but I think it's such a waste of an ending because everyone already knew that.

I would have much rather had a more final end to the on Island story, because that's what everyone cares about. I felt like the white vs. dark, Jacob vs. MIB was thrown to the wayside just so we could see all the great characters in a church together.

I loved the finale, and LOST is still my favorite show that has been on television, but I just have to think of the flash sideways as extra, kind of like the comic in Watchmen.
@Bret Ryckmen: What are you saying is purgatory? The Island? or the flash sideways? Christian makes clear that the Island was real life, and I think that he tried to explain that the flash sideways was just a way of remembering what happened. The flash sideways is really irrelevant to the story other than reminding people that the show was about solid characters coming together.
So to straighten out what I thought happened... Basically the Island was saved and Hurley became the new Jacob and he with ben will protect the light for as long as they can. The flash sideways was a "heaven" like place where everyone had gone when they died. It isn't in the timeline... its kind of just the place where everyone ended up after they had learned what the Island taught them..... question where were they moving onto? And any comments on what I thought?
How could Jacob not have an arrow to Locke? After Locke falls out of the building Jacob touches him, presumably giving him life. I feel like that is a pretty important considering he would be dead and not be in the show....
@Twisk: I agree. I don't want anyone to misunderstand me, I love lost and even included it in my college application essay (Don't worry it was tastefully done). But now I just enjoy the show as it happens, because I used to get so caught up in theories that I got mad when they didn't happen. Just as an example, now, if someone, dies on the show, I don't really think twice about it because I know they will probably reappear somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I have theories, but I just don't put much thought into them because watching the actual show is so much more enjoyable.
I've realized after watching LOST for five seasons that there is no real point in coming up with theories anymore. It's my favorite show on television, don't get me wrong, but the only way we will ever know something for a fact on LOST is when it ends.

I have really been wondering how Star Trek stood on the Panda Rape issue so thanks!
Obviously, if anyone made a LOST movie, it would probably be terrible. I mean I would see it just because its LOST but I mean new characters? that would be terrible. Anyway I thought the Island would live on, I just like to hear the conformation. The question is now, who will stay on the Island????
Just wanted to note my theory. Olivia didn't turn off the lights with her mind, Peter did. If you go back and watch the episode, Olivia is still standing there trying to make the lights go off and Peter starts to leave. He comes back, trying to get her to leave, but she is still staring at the lights. He then looks at the lights, as the camera is on his face, then the lights begin to go off and it seems as if Olivia turned them off. But really its Peter who has the powers, because his father did something when he was little, or while he was being born.
Well that completely blows my whole LOST theory. I thought that Jacob was an older version/ time traveling version of Locke.
@snowcrash: It makes sense to me, or at least as much sense as LOST normally does. LOST never explains things up front, things are always a mystery. LOST won't end up like Heroes either, because first, the golden rule that you can not change the future, and second Cuse and others have already said that before this season is over, the time travel will stop. The love triangle is still there, I dont know what your talking about.
I was a little bit confused because the French people were using like a "new looking" flashlight and they had a pretty nice life raft. I assumed since Rousseau was so old that they had crashed a long time ago. But maybe the Island time moves much much faster? O and I am calling it now and I could be completely wrong but, Ajira is flying in planes on the air strip that the others were building, in the future.
@TheGoog: That could be a very good place to look. In one of the season 4 commentaries, Carlton Cuse mentions that Stephen King is a huge influence on the Lost writers and that anyone can learn to write if they read King's works.
I am sure Foxy was just trying to make it sound really good. I would question how much he really knows about the end of the story. Besides, I have full and absolute faith in LOST to do it right.
@simmo: So how is it letting you down if your addicted? I mean it can't get much better.
I agree with all the points and would have to say TDK is science fiction. But normally when I think about science fiction, it is things that seem impossible. For one example time travel. Although all of these points are "fantastical," they are all plausible, which I think pulls it away from science fiction.
If Fox or anyone else screws up Avatar that will be the last straw in my mind. It seems almost impossible to mess up such a great show, sure it wont be as good but if you have such a strong base, the movie better be good. I will reluctantly give Fox one more shot, just because Avatar is one of my favorite shows.
@L.A.: Uhm.... although teeth was a completely original idea and all. It was disturbing. I would have rather watched Hostel. Im not comparing the two except that both made me cringe.
@Paul_Is_Drunk: Yes I was looking for an argument.... and it worked. I got to see a lot more peoples opinions and a lot of new ways to think about the movie. I think it is good to open with a broad statement, that in my opinion has some validity, so that it pulls readers in to speak their own minds.
