Agreed that the ending was satisfying. It just left me both happy that she got Head Ballard and sad that he had to die for them to have that connection.

Now Topher. That made me cry. But it was very dignified, at least.

Yeah, kinda... but in a way that makes it even more tragic/depressing?
I'll add Paul Ballard from Dollhouse to that list. Random hit from a sniper at the last minute. It's like Whedon specializes in breaking my heart.
I still play 2nd edition and 5E isn't going to change that. You can pry thac0 from my cold, dead fingers.
Mostly, I read spoilers for the things I don't watch, the things I've given up on watching, or things I have no intention of watching when they come out. Two minutes skimming this page sates my curiosity and saves me tons of time by allowing me to pare down significantly the number of shows that I watch or movies I shell out for.
Faculty meet with donors. I've worked at two universities and in both cases, faculty met with the higher giving donors (major gifts). In some cases, they were active in the event process, even holding small, intimate gatherings for the very, very major donors in their homes. So being able to charm people in this type of an environment would definitely be something our chairs and deans would screen for when hiring.
Isn't the walk of shame when you play SNL's "I Just Had Sex..." like it's your anthem, over and over in your head?
Man, I used to love Project Runway. Damn you, Lifetime!
It's Buffy without the Scooby Squad. I'll reserve judgement, see how they handle it, but I'm really hoping someone gets resurrected. Although, it is possible that this is the last season and they decided to end dark? No friends, no family, just SamandDean against the world.
I loved this episode, but.

We're down everyone the Winchester brothers trusted or loved or relied on: John Winchester, Samuel Winchester et al, Ellen, Jo, Ash, Castiel, Gabriel, Rufus, and now Bobby.

It's just Sam and Dean. In a way, it's always been just Sam and Dean. I wonder if the show will bring back one of the aforementioned or let the boys struggle through on their own...
Every once in a while some story line or surgery from Grey's will pop up in real life and I'm all like, wait... what? Wasn't that... isn't this... Fiction? Ahhh, worlds colliding!
You're conflating several assumptions:

1. that a majority of Who viewers are young women. (A vast majority of the vocal fans are young women since young women tend to be more active in tv fandom, particularly online, but Who viewership spans all demographics.)

2. that said young women wouldn't find a brown/black doctor attractive.

3. that not being attracted to the Doctor would negatively effect the show's ratings.

I see where you're coming from: historically, shows tend not to cast minority leads. When they do, it's typically a show that focuses on the race of the lead(s), so there's not a lot of precedent for having a black lead of show that's not about being black. But non-racially oriented shows with diverse casts continue to have high viewership despite having omg black people everywhere, so I don't think it's a reach to say that young women would find a hot man, you know, hot. Despite the color of his skin.
Because women don't find men of color attractive? Really?
When we're whitewashing characters, it's okay because we're bringing the story to America/American audiences and all Americans either are white, want to see white people on screen, or can only relate to white people on screen. Besides, they obviously just cast the best actor, and she/he just happened to be white.

But god forbid we cast a minority actor to play a historically white character. That just wouldn't work with the story/plot/intent of the show, and those black/brown actors probably aren't qualified anyways. They just don't have the acting chops that white guys do and can't bring the drama/edge/comedy required. And the audience definitely wouldn't identify with the character any more, or have the hots for them, because audiences can't relate to people of color, and also don't find people like Taye Diggs or Zoe Saldana attractive. Besides: then the story would have to be about being "of color" because the lives of minorities obviously revolve exclusively around the (degenerate) stereotypes attributed to their own ethnicity, and that would totally change the show.

So no. Obviously, we can't cast a brilliant gorgeous talented black man to play Doctor Who because that would destroy the show. Also: THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

Logging in just to promote this :)
As a black person who grew up in an affluent small town and who now lives in a suburb, I agree with ThatBroad. The black middle class is this huge invisible population. We exist. Not all black people are from the hood. Many, many of us are from suburbs/small towns, or even from middle/upper class urban areas. Saying that the hood is an acceptable defining quality for blacks is offensive.

I'm not trying to diminish your experience: I know that there are many areas that are almost entirely white. But there are also many, many areas that are not exclusively white that are not "the hood."
I think that this is a big part of why I (and other PoC I know) haven't actively joined the movement. What's been going on in politics and business hasn't been right for quite some time. The interests of assets and specific groups of people (business owners, (white) men, politicians) have been elevated over the interests of the American people as a whole.

People of color have been saying "this shit ain't right" for quite some time. But now, now that it has started to impact people who were previously sheltered or otherwise privileged, all of a sudden there's a movement for change? All of a sudden I'm reluctant to get riled up to protect someone else's recently infringed upon rights. And I know that's not very... nice but that's pretty much how I feel.

I like parts of this opinion article: [www.villagevoice.com] Particularly this: "I ain't about to go get arrested with some muhfuhkuhs who just figured out yesterday that this shit ain't right."
Ah, too true... Crowley faked his death.
I have been desperately hoping for a return of the Trickster. He was so snarky and he got shit done. Besides, Crowley's died several times at this point. Gabriel only died twice, they can totally bring him back.
