@ThreeOneFive: You're thinking of it the wrong way here: Who wants toys that are only work right when you're playing Halo?

To translate this into video game terms: they match the existing art style, and are fully compatible with all previous versions.
@TheSwagger: I wanted manual in my Tacoma, but I couldn't get the 6' box with a crew cab that way, they only make that body and frame in automatic :(
@Rowin Andruscavage: Oh my, I was going to say "I've rediscovered film! I'll Never give up Paper and Pen! I'll never give up the real SLR viewfinder for an LCD! I'll never give up BOOKS!" But I didn't even think of the watch, and I have protested for years that I will NEVER EVER GIVE UP MY ANALOG WATCH!
That.... seems like an absurdly unrealistic scenario.

Resell your old laptop drive for $50-70? I can buy a new one for that price, which will be larger and faster (ncix, newegg, etc).

Resell a laptop 4-6 years down the road, and bump the price up $325 for the SSD? Would YOU buy a laptop that old for even $200?

Edit: Re-reading that, I realize the article meant sell the 1-2 year old laptop with the 4-6 year old SSD in it for a $325 markup. Unless you're selling the laptop for $150 before that markup, this still seems very unrealistic.
@ElimGarak: My Mom, who is otherwise a CJ Cherryh fan, doesn't read the books for the same reason, she doesn't like reading through all of the thought processes, discussion of numbers, etc. Same with Weber's books.

Unlike David Weber's novels, though, I find I am actually very interested in what is being mused upon, thought about, or puzzled through by Mr. Cameron. The fact that he can never very effectively use The-Gun-Which-Tabini-Did-Not-Give-Him (except by accident that one time) just adds that little bit extra to his character, too.

Also, don't get me started on how awesome Lois McMaster Bujold is, I will not be able to stop.
@ElimGarak: I love the foreigner series, in fact I'm currently re-reading it to catch up and read the newest one (number 11 or something?).

Bren Cameron is certainly not an action hero, that's what Banichi and Jago are for.
@Variatas: Never stopped me from trying.

Of course, I failed far before getting to the aircraft carrier... more like when I got to the part where I had to figure out how to turn the 747 engines on...
@Variatas: Well, mostly because they want the practice in a realistic flight, I would think. They're never really going to fly an A-10, but practice in a simulator is far cheaper than fuel for their Cessna, or Rental of a Cessna.

Plus, who says they don't load up the A-10 or try to land a 747 on an aircraft carrier once in a while?
@danield3013: It's sort of a Purplish-Green.
Most of our machines get shut off at night, mine is probably the slowest to start up in the office, and conveniently the one that has to stay on, it's connected to the backup drive we use, and it updates every night and gets swapped with the one I take home each night.
@JordanAT: If you can avoid it, you shouldn't be putting the phillips head in in the first place :)
@JordanAT: I still want to find a way to replace my computer screws with robertson head.
@GeorgeDW: I loved On Basilisk Station. The next three or four books are OK, and the remainder get silly.

And why are there no aliens in the later books? Tribal Level intelligent aliens are introduced in the first book, and we never see any other alien civilizations?
"I prefer there to be one way; the right way. There is one Phillips screwdriver in my house."

I would argue that a Robertson head is actually 'the right way.'
I love this comic!

I haven't read all of his previous ones though... so many webcomics I am in the middle of reading...
What is their justification? What do we get from our yearly fee that isn't already offered by free services like Steam on the PC? It's not like you don't already have to pay for any extra services you use already.

Also, 'assure' would be more appropriate than 'insure.'
Never worried about the origin of the power button before, just assumed it was something to do with wiring diagrams or with binary's 1 and 0.

It always looked like a finger pressing a button, to me.
I know the reason I haven't watched it yet... It's not playing in my city yet...
@r0ckstarferlife: After my experience buying an HP Tablet PC, I will never buy an HP product again. The machine when working properly is garbage, and when its hardware actually failed, it took two warranty returns to get (somewhat) back to its previous mediocre performance. Several items still don't work properly.
