"@Evlsushi: I don't think it's a particular type of sci-fi. I believe the point is that sci-fi media and media containing science is often negatively biased against science (When science goes wrong!"

      • NenyaVilyaNenya commented on Science Fiction Is Making You More Clueless About Science

"@NenyaVilyaNenya: (the cursor hit the submit button on my previous post) Gattaca and Brave New World are the two examples I can think of right now that don't get something wrong, and that's because they don't give detailed scientific explanation. Non-scientists have to understand how frustrating it is for scientists to see their chosen field represented incorrectly. I know lawyers who get frustrated with law dramas as much as I get frustrated with shows involving biology. Isn't it the same for people in other fields? I think misrepresenting anything in any type of media leads to people who specialize in that area being angry mainly because of one thing - The public (who, as a whole, take what is supplied by the media as truth) is wrongly educated."

"This doesn't surprise me at all. What surprises me are the negative comments. I can't count the number of times some form of media (including novels, short stories, films, television programs, news media) have gotten something wrong about biology."
