If you have seen "Saving Private Ryan" or "Band of Brothers" or are watching "The Pacific" on HBO, you know Spielberg can do a war movie. I wish that the "Untitled Alien Invasion Project" was on HBO. I am sure it would be a much better show.
I don't think any of them can carry Claudia Black's pistol, rifle, rocket launcher or what have you.

A minor quibble. John and Lobo are a great team, but "he forms a close partnership with a sentient warsuit" is not correct. Lobo is more like a sentient flying tank/APC with an attitude. As for Heinlein novels, almost any of the juveniles would make good films. One of my favorites is "Have Space Suit, Will Travel".
Of course the"Glory Road" would kick a$$. But it would need to be "R" rated. Lots of nudity.
