Another good recent comment from her there was "Every time I'm asked about the appeal of vampires, I learn something. Since this site and its readers love spoilers, let me hand you guys one: in the 4th (final) book it is revealed that Jacob and his La Push brothers are not werewolves. They are shapeshifters.
All the wolves in this story are characters you get to know, and most of them play a sympathetic, often heroic part in the books. So of course they are not going to come off too scary, they need to be sympathetic. A lot of horror/fantasy fans seem to want this series to turn into 30 DAYS OF NIGHT or UNDERWORLD. Unrealistic of you, guys.

This is, in a nutshell, the main reason TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES was so enjoyable. They took time (a LOT of time, much to some viewers' consternation) to consider the Big Ideas behind this franchise. The show was marinated in them...

Oh great. So if Hollywood decides this is the conventional wisdom, you can kiss CAPRICA goodbye. (And, on a more positive note, BLADE RUNNER 2.)

@Whitworthian: Not true. Hulu had them up temporarily and only has part of the season up now. NBCU ended their deal with iTunes last year. The only way to purchase BSG online right now is Amazon Unbox (for PC's only).

Yeah, the NY Times had something recently on the jellyfish invasion of Spain's vacation beaches this summer (the article called them the cockroaches of the sea). And I read that most of the competitors in last month's NYC triathalon were stung non-stop during the river swim portion of the race. Ewwww.
Someone needs to invent a way to convert jellyfish into sustainable car/jet/boat fuel. That'll show em.
