@1Grand_Marquis: Wiz Zumwalt?
There's a series by Rick Cook that explicitly deals with just that... a programmer gets summoned from our world to a fantasy world, then creates a new branch of magic using a programming language he writes.
@bluehinter: Unfortunately, I never was able to get into his Cornelius series. I have his entire collection of Elric / Hawkmoon / etc.. Eternal Champion novels, though.
Out of the 2000+ books that I've read and stashed away, there has only been *one* that I was never able to finish, and in fact gave up on after page 20ish or so. 'Alien Taste' by Wen Spencer. I love his Tinker series, but this series didn't make it past the opening chapters.
@Segador: There's a Half-Price Books in Columbus, OH that I get to once a year... and usually have to ship my purchases back since they won't fit in my baggage.
Lets see.. I've got 'Gay Deceiver' as my main machine, from Number of the Beast. 'Black ICE' is my laptop, and Wintermute is chugging along downstairs.

I want to start at the beginning (oldest) of these discussions, and then only have one direction to move. IE - Read the site top down like I always have been able to.
You're killing my scroll wheel here. :P
@crashedpc : ゴキブリ and 蟑螂 division: I'm actually quite a fan of Tim Lebbon's 'Dawn' and 'Dusk'. His 'Fallen' in the same setting was pretty darn good, too.
I has the shipping crate that turned into some sort of flying gadget. It was paired with an SUV you could shoot the tires off with an infrared beam from the crate. >.>
