@dpoyesac Ah, fair enough. I bow to your better knowledge.
@AngriestGeek Actually, no, I did not see either of those movies, but invoking Jeff Bridges here probably isn't a great idea.

Orlando Bloom hasn't really aged badly or anything, but it is something to take into consideration while they're shoehorning The Lord of The Ring's entire cast into The Hobbit for whatever reason.
@Damob Well, so was the last Star Trek movie! Rimshot!
Isn't Orlando Bloom getting a little long in the tooth to play a near-immortal that he last portrayed almost ten years ago? Maybe I don't know how elves work.

Also, good lord, what is so hard about writing Star Trek? There are thousands of wannabe SF screenwriters out there who could probably have a good script in a week.
Well, young adults are nothing if not massively self-important.
Those of us with reverse seasonal affective disorder would welcome this, trust me.
From what I can tell, all these things are indeed massively popular right now. The New Yorker ran a story on the trend last year: [www.newyorker.com]
I adored this book when I was a kid. I hope it gets a fair adaptation and isn't Twilightized, to coin a horrible phrase. Romance existed in the story but wasn't a big factor, as I recall (though it has been more than fifteen years since I read it, ouch).
'He also says his Superman will be a "physical cat."'

...???
Well, the funnier a guy is, generally speaking, the more interesting he is. Self-explanatory.

The male aversion to funny women is frankly more interesting to me. I've always assumed it was because guys resent being one-upped by the people they are trying to impress, but I've never actually asked a guy before.
It's a trend to make heavy use of those colors, sure, but that was LITERALLY only in blue and orange. At least use some other set of complementary colors, you guys!
I seem to have come down with an eye condition in which I can only see the colors blue and orange.
The Rei Ayanami fetish is something I've never understood. She was so boring!
@FrankN.Stein: You know... I don't think I ever noticed until just now that that is totally a DayQuil and a NyQuil.
redacted -- didn't mean to join a pile-on.
This headline made me sob out loud. That trip is like four hours via NJTransit and SEPTA.
@Haneyg: I told you that joke wasn't funny, Dad.
It really is a terrible shame that we Americans burned up our last original idea back in 2003.
A commercial for this came on the other day during some idle holiday TV watching, and my mother -- who is a regular SF Network viewer -- sighed and said, "I am so fucking sick of vampires and werewolves!"
With a few obvious exceptions, both lists are made up of pretty 'ehhh' movies. It wasn't a great year.
