Like Bobert I've been buying science fiction for almost 40 years ever since I was old enough to take my allowance or lawn mowing money to the bookstore.

I buy at least 1 science fiction novel a week (plus some fantasy and non fiction) but in the last year or 2 the science fiction section at Chapters (canadian eh!) has been shrinking to fit graphic novels ($$$), Warhammer/Star Trek/Star Wars and fantasy.

Throw in the fact that most new releases are hardcover at triple the price (I'm looking at you John Ringo, you hack) of paperbacks and soon easy/inexpensive access to decent science fiction will be lost.

Plus I was recently laid off so I think I'll start re-reading my old stuff.

Get off my lawn you teen-vampire reading punks.

So will they substitute Simon Fraser or UBC for the Harvard shots? Also, keeping the North Shore mountains out of focus will require clever camera positioning.

I'm sure they will find some way to use the old Brittania Mine (ala X Files)in some spooky setting.

As Vancouver is only 3 hours away from me I am looking forward to stalking Walter and Olivia. Yay for season 2.

Does that guy look like a chubby Val Kilmer with dark hair? Wait wrong movie.

Thoough this does look way better than the upcoming Kilmer/snow/students/zombie virus film The Thaw.

Val Kilmer is dead to me after becoming the voice of KITT on Knight Rider.
where's my flying car?
anti-s.t.d. drugs?
condo on the moon?

yeah I'm cranky, and get the hell off my lawn

He just watched Keanu in The Day the Earth Stood Still

in space no one can hear you scream crap at the screen

Can we get Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thorton and Steve Buscemi to fly a rocket into Old Faithful in some convoluted physics defying plan to save the world?

With a side story involving a scantily clad Liv Tyler?

Plus - whats with all the anti Canada comments? After the good ole US of A is covered in ash where do you think you will be getting your sticky green from?

alright you primitive screwheads, listen up..

Clatto Verata N... Necktie... Neckturn... Nickel... It's an "N" word, it's definitely an "N" word!

after beating her (allegedly)@phoghat:

can we also talk about his self proclaimed CIA history?

his lack of facial expression is even funnier now that he has jowls

I guess Kelly LeBrock is getting the last laugh

how about including a block war between Fatties and Spugs? Yeah, I had the Block Mania board game.

Dont forget DR & Quinch, Sam Slade Robo Hunter and the Ballad of Halo Jones. What was the name of the hit man series or was that from another comic?

Im off to the basement to do research...

Debbie: Duke, let's go do some crimes.
Duke: Yeah. Let's go get sushi and not pay

I'm still listening to the soundtrack after all these days.

Not a bad episode - does anyone else think that the director of the mental institute is part of the Pattern and had been sitting on Walter and Mr Kim?

Plus more Asteroid, err I mean Astrid would be appreciated. Olivia is even starting to grow on me (though a new hairstyle could not hurt).

However, the license plate, age discrepancy of neurology resident and the fact that the neuro resident would hypnotize bystanders (boys father, Olivia) instead of just kill them, while mind-torture people into insanity are pretty big plot holes.

Also, at the end - why did they not ask the kid if he solved the music equation, and then give the answer to Walter?

But I am a fan so all is forgiven (except Olivias hair)

wasn't there a Plenty O'Toole in one of the books or movies?

I read all the books as teenager (got them from my grandfather - creepy?) and looking back I think it may have contributed to my first divorce.

also, one of my high school pal's mom wouldn't let him watch the "sexist" Bond movies so I loaned him the books - was that wrong?

Heresy! This study shakes the very foundations of organized education and sports.

How do you expect to produce proper professional athletes, politicians, cheerleaders and middle managers without letting them become bullies as children and teenagers?

While I enjoyed the Andromeda Strain, Sphere and Jurassic Park, after reading the putrid Congo I couldn't pick up another of his books for several years. And when I did, Airframe, was again bitterly disappointed. That will teach me to shop for books in the supermarket.

I will fondly remember him for those first three books of his I read though.

Last week the Marshal Law novel, this week Mr. X re-release - I'm in an 80's comic heaven!

Will we see a Dirty Pair revival? Lobo?

an action figure set of Marshal Law and Kiloton is something I'd sell my left plum for....

I've ordered this book but haven't received it yet, if it's only half as good as the originals it will still be better than those nancy-boys like the X-Men, Spiderman and Superman

being recorded on videotape instead of film made it look like it was shot on a soap opera set
Canadian here, I remember this as a kid and watched every episode religously, not knowing it was a canuck production. Even at the age of 12 or so I realized this stunk but it was sci-fi to a sci-fi starved kid, though I thought the ship and premise was cool.

Of course I also was addicted to UFO, Space 1999, original Star Trek and Quark.

You kids today are spoiled with all your high quality sci-fi movies and tv - get off my lawn!
