I love how HDR is supposed to look more realistic, but more often than not it's the exact opposite. The vast majority of HDR images just look like dreamscapes that lose their novelty once you remember what their intended purpose is.
Call me cynical, but when I look out the window I see *nothing* that looks like that.
I finally convinced my girlfriend to make the iJump when our AT&T contract expires. The only real problem that she's encountered is podcast support. Doubletwist doesn't do podcast syncing on the Mac...anybody have a good solution for this?
@zbrando: ArchiCAD is *almost* there. When it gets a little bit more polished I'll probably consider the jump.
Maya is an industry standard for animators, CGI dudes, and game developers...not architects. Mention Maya in most firms and you'll get a confused look.
I'm an architect, and the only reason that I use Windows anymore is for AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max. I can't stand any of the Mac drafting alternatives, and AutoCAD is so important to what I do that I can't run anything but Windows.
I understand that there are a few 3D modelers out there that run on OS X (SketchUp, Maya, Blender), but none of them are really industry standard. Perhaps when iRhino is finally released I'll finally have something I'm comfortable working with.
I suppose that when it comes down to it, Hulu needs to make money or they're going to disappear entirely. I enjoy their service immensely but at the same time wish it was improved...perhaps Hulu Plus could be an appropriate avenue for advanced features.
Access to the back catalog of a series is great, but I'd love to be able to stream it through my game console in 720p and watch the shows a bit earlier. Really, what I'm asking for is Netflix Streaming but for live TV.
Since getting my iPhone, I always feel like I'm rolling the dice when I make a call here in Chicago. My apartment gets really spotty coverage (I once counted 6 call drops during a 20 minute call to a landline). If there is some sort of network improvement going on...there's a ton of work to be done to make it usable out here.
@Felix26591: The material that Zagg uses is great by itself, but I've all but given up on them as a product.
Between the product being difficult to apply and then peeling off at the corners in a few months regardless of use, to numerous replacements being sent that couldn't be used because they were improperly punched...I just couldn't take it anymore and got an Agent18 hard case.
Something that I thought might be a good thing to point out:
This DSM revision doesn't simply state that getting depressed because you're thinking about sex = hypersexual disorder.
An closer examination of proposed criteria show that this disorder is not just about sex-fueled depression...it's about something deeper. Engaging in sexual activities to the point where you're neglecting all other responsibilities? Probably not the best thing for you. Using sexual activities as a coping mechanism for all stressors? Might not be healthy. (Sure, sex is great for stress relief. But so is exercise, meditation, and other activities.) Caring more about sex than your family, friends, or the safety of others? Consider for a moment the ramifications of a parent masturbating while their infant wailed for help in next room.
So before you think "Oh, this is just the medical profession demonizing sex."...consider for a moment what the Task Force is actually saying. They don't bind it to a gender (there are male sex addicts, no?), and they specifically outline that there could be detrimental effects of actively pursuing sexual fantasies 24/7.
Or maybe it's just a huge conspiracy.
I watched this, and the pilot, out of curiosity. Sadly, it was some of the most painful sci-fi TV I've had to endure.
I should have known that something was horribly amiss during the title sequence (ghastly), but I stayed on to see if hopefully something would pique my interest. Nope. I couldn't find anything to be interested in, and what story that was presented just *crawled* along.
"Caprica" just makes me miss Battlestar that much more.
Verizon just became the network I'm switching to when my AT&T contract expires. Between the Android lineup and the Pre, I can't find a reason not to dump AT&T's shitty network.
