Ugh, yet another movie that "updates" an old fairy tale with grown-up versions of beloved characters being pissed off and ready to kick ass. No. Just . . . no. Stop it, Hollywood. There's a reason why the word adulteration starts with 'adult.' You're ruining my fairy tales!
"The posters could have been created by a 5 year old with PhotoShop."

Actually I know a 10-year-old who could do a waaaay better job. In her sleep.
You know why the dialogue in this show is realistic? Because the characters says stupid shit just like many of the people I know. Yes, I know people who would think Haiti is in Africa. But seriously, I'm sure that's not how the writer intended it to sound--which is why it's always a good idea to think about how lines will sound before you plonk them down on paper, or even to say them out loud.
The only kid I know for sure is in it is Dakota's little sister Elle.
Same here. This looks good.
she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider She has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider what? If the answer is Jello, well that's not much of an endorsement. Now if she had the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a solider Dr. Manhattan, well now you have something . . .
Being that I was born without my right hand, I became left-handed by default, but not without consequences, I think. When I started writing, initially my words were backwards and at a weird angle. But I took to drawing early and got quite good at it in a very short period of time. Handedness and its connection to brain wiring make interesting reading.
He's my favorite working artist. You met him? What an honor that must've been.
Huuuuge Poe fan here. I like this idea! If they do it right it could quickly become one of my favorite series. I like some of the ideas there Meredith, but others no so much. Oh, and did I say I was a huge Poe fan?
@Meander061: I don't know, but there is something oddly incestuous about his casting his daughter in key female roles in several of his films.
@CupCakeExtender: Yes, I know. It still counts as an example of what I'm talking about, even though it may be outside the context of Annalee's article.
I'm fascinated by the psychological zeitgeist that underpins horror films. I think horror films, more than any other genre, tell us about ourselves as a society. Thus, I think it's kind of telling that our culture seems unable to deal with the reality of youth sexuality without plopping it into some bizarre or horrific context. It's a rampant theme in outsider art as well as horror films.

A couple to add to your list: there's the Dario Argento-produced film The Church, which contains a scene where a young girl attemps (or appears to attempt) to seduce a priest. There's also the weirdly sexualized kids in the movie Shivers. The elevator scene is a doozy. I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of.
@tetracycloide: I am familiar with the EFF; they do good work as well.
ACLU and CBLDF are about the only non-profits I care about anymore. I used to be devoted to a whole range of issues, but freedom of speech and the press have become such an important fight these days that I don't have time to wedge anything else in. Thank you for your expose on this important and often overlooked advocacy group.
Bzzzzt! Check your source again, Meredith. Apparently they were mistaken. Either that or they're engaging in a bit of leak obfuscation.
@Eridani: Ha! We consider these a delicacy around here. You don't usually eat them in butter sauce but cook them cajun style (spicy.) Some people suck their heads out. I'll pass.
@Annalee Newitz: I will keep you all apprised of the situation. :)
I live very near there, about ten miles from the Tennessee River. I'll keep an eye out for those bad boys.
