@Lou3000: What do either of those things have to do with speed?
Sick layout for sure, but only one of hundreds at Worlds. Any decent cutter or deep makes bids like that. Definitely not "The Greatest," which coincidentally is the name of a much more impressive play.
@Dr Emilio Lizardo: I miss the fantasy that there was life on Venus. Imagine how much more fun space travel would be with somewhere to go!
@Tanj1t: Like it or not, Halo is a bigger, more iconic franchise with a larger extended universe and fan base.
@Supernatural_Canary: I'm right with you on Assassins Creed. It's such an awesome concept for a game, but they nearly ruin it with the whole Animus storyline. I still highly recommend playing Assassins Creed 2, because the 80% of the game in the middle is awesome, it's just the 10% on either side that are absolute shit.
Looking forward to this one. Although I kind of wish for some more sci-fi movies that aren't thriller/horror. How about some more adventure stories like Avatar?
I'm trying to remember the name of a short story I read in an old collection of Sci-Fi stories. It was about a man on a generational space ship, who was awoken every 30 years or so to remind the passengers of their mission/heritage/etc. I remember that he wasn't originally the person for the job, but there was an accident or his wife left him or something to cause him to take it. I think eventually he was seen as some sort of deity. It was a great story and I want to read it again. I love the generational ship idea like Universe, Orphans of the Sky and the like.
@schrodingers-katana: It certainly wasn't all original. I'm just happy that a real Sci-Fi flick made such a bang. And don't confuse the film makers with the advertisers. They aren't the same at all.
@Nivenus: I agree the drill can't possibly compare to the scope of the Ringworld, but there are other connections. The Kzinti even appeared in the Star Trek animated series episode "The Slaver Weapon," with Spock in the place of Nessus from the original short story. #bookvortex
That is some terrible Photoshop work on the second poster. #thewolfman
First of all, there are no dragons in Science Fiction that I know of. Second, does this really happen other than in Pern novels? Third, ewwwww.
Also, there's a really good radio production of "A Pail of Air" done by X-Minus One, [ia301543.us.archive.org]
