Actually the point of these comics is to change people's perception.
Most mexicans believe that the war against "el narco" should stop, clinging to the idea that the country could be safer that way. Opposing political parties, looking for votes, claim that a truce between government and "el narco" could be reached, ending the not so recent crime wave in the country.
The real strategy here is to convince people that the war has to go on, since the president's party also is in need of votes for the upcoming elections.
Every time I read something like this, -us tampering with nature- I can't help but think: This is not going to end well.
Don't get me wrong, this idea, like some many others, sounds great. But, do we know for sure it isn't going to come back and bite us in the a**, long term?
I watched it yesterday and the movie is not bad at all, I actually liked it. The problem, I think, is not with the movie but with all this "found footage" thing.
Wait, do not touch it? If I where to find a piece of it, I would love to have it as a souvenir! Unless it's government property, then it would be a well hidden souvenir.
Grave Encounters is one of the worst films I have ever watched, specially because of the par-to-none-worst-acting-ever. For me, the only good scare on it was the one in the trailer.
The post is not about those mistakes, is it? So, why would you think I would be writting about something other than programming decisions? Besides, it's just an opinion man, don't sweat it.
In my opinion, Republicans are saying what big companies want them to say. It is not a matter of being simply idiotic. Unfortunately there are millions of americans out there that are willing to believe that the world is four thousand years old. That global warming is all about sun flares. That most CO2, released to the atmosphere, is generated by cows. That Disney is not evil nor racist.
Are we idiotic enough as a species to believe this? Yes, unfortunately we are. Are we, io9 readers idiotic enough as a community as to believe it? Not in a million years. We are not the average Joe.
Do Studios have a right to do this? Yes they do. It's call marketing: you go out and sell your crap anyway you can. Do we feel offended by it? Some of us. Do we think it's insulting? Yes. Are we going to se this movie? Hell yes!
We are but a skin lesion on Earth's crust. Our extinction will come soon enough. Radioactive army ants from the Amazon are going to see to it. They already have a movie deal.
