I think Apple is going to shock the world and defy expectations by making the iPad 3 run slower than it's predecessors. That's right, and you read it here first.
He shoulda just worn a Starfleet™ uniform. Works like a charm [shrugs].
The hair on the left is so much cooler as well.

Odd that they'd change it to that bushy mess on the right (looks like she just got done having sex). :P

As someone who embraces change (I'm not one of those folks clutching onto their VHS collection for example), and after having thought for quite some time about this article (and having read through many of the comments below)...

I see OS X becoming more consistent in look/feel to iOS, but we won't be seeing the more 'pro' features getting the axe. Ever.

There's a reason we've never seen Mission Control on iOS devices. It just wouldn't work there. There's a reason we don't have the Finder on iOS devices. It just wouldn't work there.

...and there's a reason why Mission Control and the Finder will continue to operate (in some capacity at least) on Macs (whether we're talking about desktop or laptop models).

The Mac, the desktop—does not have to die. It is required as a function of content CREATION devices in order to develop things for content CONSUMPTION devices.

I've run into a few apps while working in Lion where this was a problem. For video, there is a workaround at least. :)

Hmmmm, not sure why the video is having problems embedding... I'll try this... [www.youtube.com]

When I first heard rumors of a live action Transformers™ flick being tossed around, the first thing I hoped for was a period piece.

...do a gen 1 flick, have it take place in the 80's.

I know exactly what you mean! Originally I had a 7" Galaxy Tab which was really great for a lot of things, but reading comics just wasn't one of 'em.

...then I got my XOOM, and comics fit absolutely perfectly on it - everything fits to all the corners of the screen perfectly without zooming or stretching.

If I didn't have a 10" tablet, I'd probably be happy with my ol' 7" one (that's currently collecting dust). But yeah, once you start using a 10" tablet - it's hard to think about trying to use anything smaller afterwards. :)

If you intall Perian, you can use iTunes to play virtually any video format you have.

With zero re-encoding you can do the following... open up your video file into QuickTime (with Perian installed), save as a .mov. Next, change the extension from .mov to .m4v or .mp4 (doesn't matter which). Next, open that file into Subler version 0.10 (if you try to open it into a newer version of Subler it won't work).

...you can now add all the meta data you want (including HD and SD tags to merge HD and SD files together into iTunes). Again, none of this requires you to re-encode your video.

I do this because iTunes can do one thing that no other video player can (see screenshot). See those two columns? Genres and Groupings. Groupings are like 'sub genres'. So when I got to Sci-Fi & Fantasy for example, instead of seeing several hundred Sci-Fi & Fantasy movies at once, I can continue to narrow down what I'm in the mood for by selecting a 'sub genre' such as Alien Encounters, Alternate Realities, etc...

Not sure if the image is going to embed or not, here's a direct link: [twiskonline.com]

I just tried out File Expert, I like it a bit better. :)

...like how it can backup apps, lots of stuff in this. Thanks!

There's a lot of times I need to connect my tablet to my MacBook Pro for this reason or that. ...so I carry around this tiny little USB cable everywhere.

After trying out Software Data Cable this morning - holy crap! I don't need that cable anymore! I'm mounting the tablet on my Mac's desktop (through Transmit) so it appears as just another drive. Got complete access to everything on the tablet (unlike Dropbox).

I tried transferring some fairly large files (a few TV episodes), I'm not quite sure but it seems to be transferring faster than it does over USB (again, not quite sure - sure is crazy fast though). Awesome.

EDIT: Dropbox still has it's place of course. It's just that this removes my need to connect the tablet to my Mac via a physical cable for when I need more direct access to various files/folders.

That is correct. I had my bookmarks synced with the stock ICS browser.

I'd been using the beta of 'Dolphin for Pad' but I couldn't sync bookmarks and there were a few other weird quirks so I switched to the stock browser. ...was never really a fan of the stock browser's GUI, but Chrome looks more like Dolphin (so I'm pleased 'bout that) and it seems noticeably faster too!

I too recognize the music, and won't be able to properly concentrate all day 'til I can remember what it's from. LOL
Well, ePad and iPed are already taken...

...shit. Ummm, how 'bout the Original iPad. Or maybe the New Original iPad.

EDIT: Just lookin' around Google, found these too... [techcrunch.com]

Whoa! I haven't read that series. ...thought time travel was a bit more obscure in the world of Star Wars. :)

Did they make changes to the time line? Or was it more along the lines of LOST where nothing could actually be changed?

Right on! :)

As far as I know, there's only been two stories within the EU that have to do with time travel™. One had to do with Mace Windu going back a thousand years (or something), I forgot the other one off the top of my head.

...most folks don't know about these two time travel tales, which is a good thing. Leave time travel to other series, just seems out of place for Star Wars.

'...been taken over by these games that young people play now...'

Ouch. Those words alone give me a fairly good idea of how old (I do stress the word 'old') this lawyer is and just how completely out of touch with our planet he's become. LOL

I remember when I was a kid and MTV first came out, I would hear so many parents talk about how evil MTV was and how it will turn your kids into thieves.

In a weird way this reminds me of the days when the SNES version of Mortal Kombat looked better than the Genesis version - but the SNES version had sweat instead of blood to appease all the mommies and daddies.
And to make matters worse, they bring her back in an alternate timeline - give her a friggin' AWESOME death that MEANS something...

...and then it turns out she survived, tries to escape Roluman capture and gets executed.

I copied the mighty wall of text and pasted it into TextEdit. ...I then right clicked and chose 'Add to iTunes as a Spoken Track'.

I found the voice in the system preferences, there's a bunch of really high quality voices that didn't download with Lion automatically (you can find them deep in the preferences and force 'em to download). My favorite is the lady with the Indian accent. :)
