God I've not read unshelved for years!

Forgot how funny it was, plus I'll forever love it for this strip - I lost count of how often I read that book when I was little!

Bekmambetov blends insane visuals with stunning story telling very well though, he's got form on bringing nutso ideas to great movies.
But Bekmambetov has made some stunning movies - sure this is going to be a little silly, but I don't think it's going to be quite that bad!
Oh, I'm certain that Dick would have disagreed, but that's part of the joy of disconnecting the two stories from each other.

The behind the scenes documentaries on the BD box set were very enlightening, and as you say it is most certainly Scott's movie.

I'm happy for the two stories to have a vastly different central character, (had Scott included the religious aspects you and I would agree it was a terrible idea).

I agree, the shift in tone ruined the movie - and frankly I think it's Smith to blame, (look at what happened to I, Robot, which he also had script approval on).

I actually laughed at a joke in the MIB3 trailer, I remember thinking it was the first time in more than a decade Smith had made me laugh.

Oblivion sounds a lot like a world most of us would want to live in - Tom Cruise somewhere far and away, (I thank you), where he can only harm himself.

Guys a great actor, really but fucking nutso.

Hancock had such promise, but the tone just shifted too far towards funny for it to work.

The idea is really interesting, and the darker, more emotional parts of the film really (almost) worked - if they could settle on a tone it would be great, but I someone how think Smith will want script approval again, (has no one noticed his films took a nosedive once he gained this power? He's a truely great actor, but they shouldn't let him near the scripts).

I get the idea that Ford never really liked sci-fi as a genre, at least back in the day, (despite being in two of the most important sci-fi films of the last 40 years); I think as it's become more accepted as a genre he's cooled to it, (or perhaps with age and hindsight) and as such is more receptive of it these days.

I enojyed him in Cowboys and Aliens, (I thankfully was expecting the tone of the film to be straight, unlike a few people I knew who went in expecting a Wild Wild West style frolick), and would not be against the idea of him returning in a Blade Runner film, if it was key to the story, I'd hate to see him pop up just for the sake of it.

The book explores the notion better in my opinion though, which is why I'm happy for Scott's version to be different, (in fact it reminds me of another Dick story, I forget the name but it involves and human not accepting his own robotic self after a crash kills the original).

I'm not writing Ford off, he's brilliant in the movie, (and in general), I just side with the filmmaker on this one!

But isn't this one of the greatest aspects of the movie - people are still debating it decades after it was shot,

Please post the spoiler free review of the film you've seen - I'm eager to know how you found it.
Which I believe it is, I'm fine with the idea that it gives a different take on the character to the book, (which is brilliant), Scott was responsible for a hell of a lot of the creative input of the movie, and as such can say that his Deckard is a replicant, (I mean, it's not the least of the changes made to the source is it), Ford be damned quite frankly.
This is all I have to say about a Short Circuit remake
Borboun is not whiskey.
I always feel sad for that dude.
Everytime I see something like that all I can think of is South Park!
Means something else in the UK
I've commented here for several years now and I think Jerry was spot on about what he said.

There are a lot of whiney bitches on here, hence you had the create core to appease them.

Sure, it's an extension of the old filter system which is fine, people don't like cosplay or gamer politics etc. etc.

But it doesn't mean whay Jerry said was wrong.

Well Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net ended up being bought out by Bill Gates...
Obvious illiterate is illiterate - did you read all my posts or where you too busy with your light beer?

All I'm saying is, American's seem to go out of their way to not get drunk whilst drinking, which to a Brit, is a rather insane concept.

I mean, you guys have Goose Island and Sierra Nevada IPA's and you drink Bud Light - seriously wtf is up with that?

Considering the pay or play contracts that Burton has enjoyed since the late 90's, (see Superman), I'm willing to bet Butron cashed his cheque long before a Jon Peters type said, "that funky bunch guy is awesome, I want him in my movie".

Kidding aside I do like Whalberg, he won me over with Three Kings and I Heart Huckabees.
