If I meant just news media, I would have said.. news media, and I said it's NOT depressing, even news media isn't that depressing.. but I think you proved your point in a way, because by your rational we see thing negatively regardless if they are negative or not. I work in news, and the majority isn't depressing.. the majority is boring, which I guess you could consider depressing, but it's mostly weather, sports, medical, and celeb news.

Seeking a connection is just that, people do it with all things.. sports, cars, gossip, church, video games, etc. Depressing media .. from blues to poetry, from painting to anime.. people seek connection when they need it most, for the depressed it can make them feel better to feel like you're not the only one with those feelings. Not to mention that the people who create those things, the feeling of connection they get from those you consume it.. eventually all those connections come together, and you do feel better. For some things like that help, for other's it doesn't. But blaming media is like blaming Ford for making a shitty car when you Escort dies at 120k miles, because rarely changed the oil.

Your advice to ignore depression and "don't be selfish", isn't going to help very many people; especially those who feel disconnected.

The majority of Anime isn't depressing, like the majority of all media isn't depressing. And the ones that are have more potential for "good" than it does to "harm". People, [note: not just teenagers] seek a connection, and finding a connection isn't what kill people, it's not finding a connection. People want to find something that reminds them that they're not alone, that they exist, that they are not worthless - some find it in normalcy, other's in ab-normalcy. If people are consuming depressing media, they're most likely depressed already, most likely they've sought it out, it doesn't help, and they think, "I'm still so worthless, no on knows my woes, what's the point?" and.. pftt. For some it's like "YES FUCK YEAH THIS SHOW KNOWS MY TROUBLES" and their self-view is just a little more positive because they aren't alone. Depression isn't about one bad thing happening, it takes time to build up self view of worthlessness, if it didn't then there would be a lot more dead people in this world, because there is a lot to be depressed about. Like people blaming bad shit on things that require no blame, when it's just life... we all deal with it the best we can, and when we feel like we can't.. well.. bad shit happens.
In Russia, in two weeks, six teens have committed suicide, tragedy ? This is a triumph.. In America suicide is a leading cause of death, and in a country like Russia having only 6 teens kill themselves.. even having six anime fans kill themselves are great odds. Being from a "good home" and "getting good grades" isn't a reason not to kill yourself, this isn't about sub-culture or what kids do in their spare time, it's about life. Parents/people need to stop finding blame and start finding closure.
I'd like to play in Japan.
but you see, he's just THAT good.
He's also a series regular on House of Lies - decent show.. if you like watching assholes be assholes.
I've always went with assumption that when it's not said how someone dies it's either suicide or something really embarrassing.
i'm pretty sure that polar bear wasn't just "being friendly" .. but you know.. being very friendly.
gross. i think I'll take my chances with a bit of an inconvenience
Instead of buying a new PS3 is there a way to fix that?
thanks, but it didn't work.
I wonder if this this update will finally keep my controllers synced, or will I still have to constantly re-connect them manually through a USB wire after each reboot?
I found a leak of an excerpt from the first paragraph of the yet unnamed future novel..

Cold sweat beads across his domed forehead, down his temple, tickling the tiny hairs on his ear. A sudden rush of fresh Vermont air fills his lungs as his brain commands his body to give him more oxygen, waking his wife. She grabs his arm with concern, "What is it dear?". Dick turns to her and in a gruff but hurried voice saying, "Joanna, I just had the weirdest dream"...

18,036 games, just in the first quarter.. something tells me that they're spending more on this than ACTUAL sales lost through piracy.. (note: not expected sales lost, nor potential sales lost.. but ACTUAL sale lost.. as in .. a person wanting the game, affording the game, then downloading this game, instead of buying the game because it's available for "free".. and not just download for "the heck of it" and because "it's there, and I have a weekend to kill" which is my belief that is what happens for the majority of downloads). I may be naive, but people who can afford the game and actually buy the game.. do, the majority is just doing it because they can, and not because it's easier than buying it.
I don't think you have that exactly right, organisations/corporations pay money to lobbyists not to Senators/Congressmen. Group XYZ hires lobbyists to convince the politicians that Group XYZ's new bill or someone else's bill is exactly what this country needs and the bullet points to repeat during presentation and while talking to pundits.. what lobbyists do with that $1M in order to achieve that goal is between the lobbyist and the politician's "fund raisers" and "charitable trusts". So you're right, but there is very important step in there that separates XYZ from all that dirty business. If anything they're a legal money laundry scheme, under the vale of "right to petition".
I've been a video editor at a mid-market news affiliate for a few years now, I would have to say that videos games have helped me immensely in time management, cognitive reasoning, threat analysis, image and number memory, and general hand eye coordination. Not to mention computer operation and general troubleshooting.
Never underestimate a group of people's inability to NOT take things so serious.. once I wrote one of those online survey's specifically towards women and comics and geek cultural in general.. literally only one person got that it wasn't satirical, but a survey exposing how male and female comic fans aren't at all different.. everyone else, well let's just say they vented a lot of the frustration at me, and my hastily written questions.. though a few thought I was cute (something I don't get often, at least to my face).

Moral of the story, grammar counts sometimes, especially with a group of strangers.. and if you think you're clever, you're probably not.

here's the survey if you're interested..
