Is that the visitor center/reception area? I bet when you walk through the door in back you end up in an endless maze of beige cubicles and offices.
Looks like radium poisoning is in this month. See this month's Believer for a story about the Radium Girls:

@BoxOfScraps: Actually, I'm not sure any of the methods we currently use to detect extrasolar planets would work. One method measures periodic doppler shift of a star, since a planet makes the star "wobble" around a mutual center of gravity, and the ring wouldn't have the same effect. Another method measures changes in light output when a planet transits the face of a star. Again, doesn't work with a ring.
@redspidey: That guy's clearly pillaging the sky. Space Pirates scoff at Sky Pirates.
@Solomon Grundy: Daddy? Is that you? I always wondered why Mom called me her little "Riblet."
Waking Life. Gawdawful pretentious bullshit. I was soooo close to walking out on Episode I many, many times, but I managed to make it through somehow.
@Srynerson: Your search "Pesakh Amnuel" did not match any products. Did you mean: peach manual

Why, yes, Amazon, yes I did.
@jedi_X: I win...I actually implemented this in a program. Me: The original image is only 640x480. Zooming will just make the image block-y and blurry. Business Analyst: But it will be bigger, right?
I've always suspected robes are evil. My neighbors may not like it, but I'll be grabbing my morning newspaper in the buff from now on. Hopefully I can convince the yoga instructor across the street to eschew the dark one as well.
@agentgray: The "metric" (or "ne") is implied.
@Odin: If it supports .NET Compact and/or Silverlight, then there are plenty of qualified developers out there to jump into app development for a Zune phone.
@FrankN.Stein: Is it even physically possible to build a skyscraper that isn't phallic? Would the world's deepest underground parking garage be the antithesis to the world's tallest skyscraper? What's the opposite of phallic?
@Esquire99: True story: there is an entire sector of the economy, known to some as the non-profit sector, where, while the people working within the sector make salaries, the organizations they work for do not make a profit. Not even a penny, if you can believe that. I know, I didn't believe it at first, either.
Everyone's worried about the camera on the remote heli. Personally I wouldn't want one of those flying lawnmowers buzzing around my head. One wrong move from the pilot and you have some really striking footage.
Agreed, that's a great image. So much of the literature/media is dedicated to the hardware and the astronauts, we forget how many thousands of people it took to make Apollo happen.

On a different note:

"taking on its own hair road role in our lives"

So, what speech to text recognition software came up with that gem?

@SuksmaScrofa: Gigabyte is often used as a synonym for Gibibyte (= 1024 Mebibytes), however it is an SI unit for 10^9 bytes as well. See [en.wikipedia.org]
Alan Cox making a movie with a message? Walker had a message, but at least the chance that Repo Chick could possibly suck anywhere near as hard as Walker is slim.
@twDarkflame: We'll live in pods and provide thermal energy for all the intelligent machines who provide the virtual layer for us. Intelligent enough to provide us with a snazzy virtual world, but apparently not intelligent enough to realize they could burn the food they supply us more efficiently than we can convert it into heat for them. Stupid intelligent machines.
@MISS MERCY STREET: Nah, she's just got better writers.
