I just figure that Midichlorians were a fad explanation for the Force during the era Qui-Gon lived. Like people thought the earth was flat. They were wrong but fairly harmless.
@8x10: Also, who wants to be under any of the "lesser" non-extinction event chunks when they hit. Better to divert altogether than nuke and deal with radio-active shrapnel. If you can call things the size of a dump truck shrapnel.
Please don't think this is all there is to Detroit. The DIA, Science Center, many revamped old buildings, truly beautiful old apartment buildings are also Detroit. This is the city of my birth and I cry every time she is bad-mouthed by someone who does not or has not lived here.
I lived and worked in Detroit in the 1970s and 1980s. It was much worse then. Burnt out houses and shops from the riots in the 1960s, mouldering in the weather. Many have been torn down or renovated.
Yes, the current economy is hurting the come-back but I have no doubt Detroit will come back. The willingness to work is here along with the desire.
@Chip Skylark of Space: I just got back from up north visiting the relatives for Thanksgiving. It is too quiet. The poor economy is really killing the tourist/hunting season. I only saw two deer in trucks on the way back.
I am giving SG:U one more episode and then I give up! I was so POed after the last one I made a list of what is wrong with the show.
What is wrong with Stargate: Universe?
Commander is thinking with the little head -he is going to get people dead.
Scientist is sociopath/jackass -he is/did get people dead.
HR lady is so mousy
Senator's Daughter is a whore/slut alternating with mousy
Medic lady is too nice to people who need bitchslappin'
Basiclly it is Stargate 90210
I didn't sign up for a soap opera, I signed up for a Sci Fi show.
It is on the Sci Fi channel...Oh, wait, now I know why they changed the name. So crap like Scare Tactics won't seem so out of place.
I voted 1-2 chapters but as Alessar said if it is really bad I stop sooner.
I used to finish every book I started but that was when I was young and thought I would live forever.
If the stories are like Twilight Zone, they could do gritty "kill off the good guy" plots once in a while, and take chances with characters episodic TV rarely does.
I only came here to say I misread the title of the article as, "California Company Offers GNOME Sequencing on the Cheap."
I picture weird living garden gnomes. Yuck.
I think I need to go to sleep now. #genomesequence
I thought the reason nothing was done about Victor and Sierra being together in the pod was because after the emotional wring-out the Dollhouse staff had experienced had them taking their eye off the ball for once. They are human after all. #dollhouse
