PayPal won't get any slice because PayPal isn't an accepted payment method - only Amazon Payments is the payment processor and they basically only accept credit cards :(
It's not redundant - he "passed away today", and they learned about it "earlier today". Two seperate things are being mentioned as having happened today.
Oh, another sensationalistic article on "sexism" in video gaming. Come on. You say his statement "puts men in the position of manipulating women for sexual gain" as though it's part of some subversive scheme to take advantage of women, and reflective of some kind of misogynistic sexist world view. It's a crude and perhaps untasteful joke, and you know damned well that no one would be raising a fuss if he spun it the other way around like "let your boyfriend win and he'll please you in bed tonight", or something. Frankly, I'm starting to get sick of being whined to constantly (through opinionated blog posts like this) as though anything I say even vaguely relating to sex while discussing games is going to have troves of knee-jerk responses from people who are projecting their own radical level of over-defensiveness about sex-related topics onto every damn thing they read.
Hey, who the hell are you to call me naive? I just said MULTIPLE times I will never use it. Contact me in a couple years and ask me if I've purchased a single EA title or have used Origin. Outside of that, cut the crap and go pass your ill-informed judgement elsewhere.
Same for me. Between my father-in-law, bro-in-law, wife and I, none of us have gotten in. We're all former WoW players, no longer with active subscriptions. But we all have other registered Blizz games in our accounts as well.. Whatever....
Err.. in what sense did I not answer your question? I will never use Origin because I will never use any products that depend on it. As well, the Origin software is not installed on any of my machines, and never will be. I can be certain of this because I, as a conscious human being, can decide what actions I take during the course of my existence.
Isn't it funny how Xbox Live Gold membership prices went UP, even though they actually cut a very substantial piece of service: Xbox Live service for original Xboxes? ^___^
Because I have no plans to ever buy any EA product again. It's worth noting Origin isn't even installed on my machine. I just have an Origin account, and the only reason my EA account turned into an Origin account is because I bought SWTOR - which I haven't played past the free 30 days... Anyway, I'll stick with developers/publishers who live up to the level of standards I expect (which is sadly becoming fewer and fewer). EA doesn't even come close to meeting my standards, by a long shot.
Yeah, I actually basically regret buying SWTOR. That said, it's the last EA game I've purchased since, I think, Ultima Online. Ohh or the copy of Need For Speed Carbon that I bought when I got my Wii - the game is still sitting on my shelf in its original shrinkwrap... seriously.... rofl
Yeah, I am not forgiving of game companies, which is why I have not purchased Skyrim, and will not until a very large portion of its glaring problems are resolved. At this rate I may just never buy it. I'm used to insanely-polished top quality products like the stuff that Bungie has put out since pretty much the beginning. Yeah I harp on about them but they constantly remind me of what to expect from games! :)
Ahh, yeah. All the Haterade(tm) on this article remind me why whenever Apple products come into a discussion, I keep my opinions to myself and continue along on my happy life of enjoying the products I use and wondering why people are content with hassle-ridden crap that drives me insane. To each his/her own, or whatever, I guess.
Okay. As the owner of an HP laptop with a Synaptics-made trackpad, I have to say: Apple gets the recognition they deserve. The trackpad on this HP laptop is a horrid, glitchy, unresponsive piece of utter shit compared to the trackpads I've used on any Apple machine. Seriously, it's a world of difference. To even compare the two is a major insult to the quality, subtlety and responsiveness afforded by the track pads on Apple's hardware. Yeah, I just had to comment on this because every time I use my HP laptop I'm pretty much immediately raging at how absolutely terrible the piece-of-shit track pad is. If I actually paid for this thing I would have returned it within days. Not to mention, the UI of the Synaptic control panel is actually a blatant ripoff of the trackpad settings in Mac OS X' System Preferences. OS X: [cdn.macrumors.com] Synaptics control panel: [2.bp.blogspot.com] Don't forget the fact that the Synaptics control panel has robotic, unrealistic 3d-rendered animations that do not accurately convey the motions needed to activate certain gestures, whereas Apple's videos clearly show natural human movement to demonstrate the gestures. When you can't actually tell if you're doing a gesture properly because the demo animation is THAT bad, you know the product you're using is dollar-store garbage.
Ahh, wow. One of the games I've been looking forward to the most, actually. I used to play Twisted Metal for hours with my cousins, years ago, and damn was it fun!! Between this game, Journey, LBP1&2 and the Last Guardian, I've been pretty close to buying a PS3 for a while now. Honestly though, I can't bring myself to buy a game that is sold via a practice I so vehemently disagree with. Too bad, too - I've been missing out on a number of games because of my refusal to support publishers that use these kind of practices. Then again, I don't have as much free time these days anyways (and still have a pretty decent bunch of titles I haven't even picked up yet), so it's really not too much of a problem to uphold this sort of principle. ;)
Wow, what's up with all the cynical people giving Kotaku a hard time for this post? Get over it. Sure, "ad revenue" may factor in, but Kotaku is not responsible for joining whatever protest happens to be a trend at the moment. It's unreasonable of people to demand that Kotaku "joins the protest". They are not obligated to in any way, and frankly I'd consider it completely pointless for Kotaku to black out their site, as anyone visiting this site is almost absolutely certainly aware of SOPA/PIPA already. I prefer to read Kotaku's COVERAGE of SOPA, not Kotaku's political agenda of joining some "blackout" protest, and I don't think it makes sense to get all pissed that Kotaku chooses to simply report on the news and point out facts rather than make some dramatic yet shallow/pointless statement.
