Got it. Maybe I'll download over the summer and watch. Thanks!
I've been seeing stuff on Lost Girl. Is it any good? Worth watching??
"this show "centers on a female cop who discovers that a magical world exists within New York City.""

So, you mean a rip off of Lev Grossman's book "The Magicians"...

Thank you for starting where you did. For those of us who loved the idea of Heroes, its rapid decent into nonsense was horrifying. And while the central conceit of this is intriguing, if it goes the same way, the genre community will loathe Kring for life the way we love Wheadon for life...

For me, it was engaging enough, had high production values, and Sutherland, Mbatha-Raw (love seeing Doctor Who actors in things...), and Mazouz were all very good.

And there's a message in this that people are looking for currently - that we are all connected, that we do all matter, and that we can have a positive influence on those around us - even if we don't know them or know how we did it (or even that we did it). Given the state of the world and economy, people want a positive spin, and this show gives it.

Having said all of that, the second evil carnies show up, I'm out...

Me too. I agree with everything you said, Holku.

Great series. A little meandering in the middle, but it closes strong.

Always amazed at how the British can do dark and creepy so damn well. And they know how to do a limited series that doesn't drag on forever.

That was pretty good. Even a crappy copy was compelling. Too bad it didn't get made. This and Virtuosity both were great concepts.

Keep at it Ron...

Very different from Avatar. And very dark. Unfortunately, they get less engaging as they go along. With each book he tries to amp up the issues and make them more mature, but it simply makes them harder to read. VERY promising start in the first one. The second one is very different, and good in its own way. The third does bring a logical conclusion to a world he created, but it's hard to care anymore.
I'm reading a book (and its sequel) right now that deal with exactly this. Flood (and the sequel, Ark) by Stephen Baxter. They're very good. Or at least the first one is.
Also - he steadfastly refuses to use guns, and as the series has gone on, has become more and more offended by them.
I, too, read the book first and saw the original cast on Broadway soon after (1st row, center). In general I have found that people either like the book or the musical, but not both. The tone, as people have commented here, between both is quite different. (I can appreciaet the musical - the music itself is quite complex and layered, although not that memorable.)

I loved the book(s) (okay, the first and third, the second was just blah) and think, if the tone of the book is kept, this is the perfect type of thing to do as a miniseries. It lends itself to this format even better than Alice in Wonderland or The Wizard of oz did for SyFy. There is a rich, fully developed world, political and social implications, arresting characters, and visually engaging scenes.

Do it, ABC, but do it right. Distance yourself from the musical and make it a coming-of-age story in a time of political and social upheaval. Stay true to the tone of the book. And let Maguire help out.
Anyone else find it a little weird that the special "Christmas" episode of Warehouse 13 is about the one Jewish character? It's not like they've gloosed over his jewishness - it's been one of the main plot points about his past over 2 seasons...
Am I the only one who noticed that Olivia left at least one bag of her blood behind?? I was screaming "No! Take it all!!" A dangling thread so that they can still cross back over to our side for the remainder of the season...
There is a special Warehouse 13 ("Secret Santa") to be broadcast on December 7...
@caffeinatedangel: Totally agree! Plus, isn't there a Warehouse 13 Christmas special also??
I am a huge, lifelong sci-fi fan and could never ever get into any other Stargate series - too jokey, too whatever. Thank GOD it's not SG1 or Atlantis.

This show, though, is as good as adverttised. Does it have its issues? Yeah - so did ST:TNG season 1 (and 2), so did the first season of the X-Files, so did lots of stuff. But it is a great show that I look forward to every week and truly am not sure where they are going to go - and I like that.

Plus, it does deal with real issues. It's not as "gritty" as it wants to be sometimes (group work outs while trying to just survive with a dwindling water supply?), and it's no BSG - yet. But it has a lot of potential.
You mean the Bad Wolves? (Sorry, couldn't resist...)
