I wasn't able to do more than skim this feedback... what with pointless car(e) chases-- but all things considered, this was a pretty long response to an article that you didn't actually read through. ;)
My mind is blown every time I contemplate these things...our existence and place in the Universe amazing and horrifying at the same time. Really good article--

On a side note- because I need to alleviate reality with distraction, it would be nice to include some of this in sci-fi shows...Spock should have no excuse to be "late" in dumping the red matter into the super nova that would eventually destroy Romulus-- these places are light years away from each other and they should have seen that super nova hundreds of years in advance with normal telescopes...large scale events in space should come as no surprise to these people...hope Jj includes some current common knowledge science in the next flick....

ok, I can go back to being scared again.

With the thinning atmosphere, over a long enough period of time, did the ocean mass simply evaporate? --elemental mass escapes our own atmosphere over time, just as space dust collects on our planet over time... the atmosphere must have finally gotten too thin to support liquid water... you think we can put out tons of carbon in the air to help some of that heat stay in the atmosphere and bring that balance back? --we seem to be experts at doing that here on earth:)
Very cool article-- got my mind thinking about ... well, everything:) Existence is complicated...
Hey, I "said" there would be HOLES..:) --but my analogy still stands, because we are talking about purposely creating a "potential" half-human, a premeditated decision-- since we are in the process of deciding whether or not to create them in the first place. --JUST like the idea if killing off a "potential" human, as you described.

This analogy was NOT aimed at a woman exercising her right to have an abortion or not-- the analogy was aimed at the general acceptance that if we think that pro-choice is acceptable, then it follows to reason that creating a sub-human in a lab would "also" be acceptable-- also... I NEVER said that having an abortion is hypocritical -- the hypocrisy statement was obviously aimed at MYSELF (and in the next sentence, having nothing to do with the abortion statement at this point) -- for thinking its ok to wear LEATHER and not FUR-- I was PAST the abortion analogy by that next sentence... dont get so hung up on the abortion issue that you bunch up my sentences and make the whole thing about that.

There are lots of situations where I think having an abortion would be the sensible thing to do-- that being said, I seem to be talking about MYSELF when I say that creating a sub-human would also be an interesting thing to do. Is it right or wrong? --hey, I never said ANY of this was right OR wrong, but please take my opinion in the correct context before you jump all over it. Im totally willing to listen to anybody's opinion, especially if they differ from my own, but if you think I typed that "abortions are hypocritical", then you either did't read it in the context I meant to convey or I simply rambled on incorrectly...people tend to get blinded to what you have to say at the mere mention of the WORD abortion, which is why I put that disclaimer at the end of my rant... so in the end, I think the ACTUAL biggest hole in my logic ( which was a redundant statement, not a contest to see who could find it first) --is actually that I was already talking about LEATHER when you thought I was still talking about a fetus. --which Im not sure I even spelled right:)

Well, in a society that supports legalized abortions of human beings, how much time would it take to think that this was just as acceptable? --Im NOT using this as a platform to promote pro-choice OR pro-life issues, by the way (so if you got mad just reading that sentence, it's just an analogy, not finger pointing, so deal with your personal feelings about that subject elsewhere) --Im only pointing out that if our society openly supports destroying embryos that are FULLY human in nature, then why would you expect us to respect the rights of something that is "sub" human (being used as a study tool. ) ? Our society is built on hypocrisy when it comes to certain things... I think its BAD to wear "fur"...but it's cool to wear leather--I mean, I justify that with the fact that, at least, we eat the cow... but Im rambling on with analogies trying to point out a simple thing about how, we as a society, draw the line between what is acceptable and what is not-- and how that answer changes, depending on when you ask.

-and would it even matter? Something like this is going to happen at some point, with or without the public's consent. Would it be better in a controlled environment that the public can have some say in and share in the collected knowledge--? Or behind closed doors of the government funded mad scientist who will stock pile the data in a file for future use behind our backs?

--and just to make it clear, just because this is my 2 cents on the matter, that does NOT mean that I think somebody with a different view point is wrong-- or even that Im RIGHT... it's just an opinion with pretty much nothing to back it up with-- if you read it and it makes a little bit of sense to you, then thats great...if you dont agree with it, or you see hole in my logic, well then, Im not surprised and I can respect that too:)

I must say that it looks COOL with the big 'ol wheel...but I noticed that the structure inside the wheel looks like a 4 wheeled vehicle in its own right-- just taking it out of the donut and bam-- you got your self a little electric car that can ( after modding the front tires to turn with a steering wheel) get you where you're going a lot safer-- safety be damned!!
No video of a person actually riding the product doesn't project confidence-- or at least a cg shot of somebody sitting on it in order to visualize...
Might as well be conceited while we still can...cause when we finally DO find something, we're going to be feeling pretty small indeed:)
Unnecessary bashing of the Seal, I think...
It's funny how this stuff starts out:)
Oh, yes, I totally get that. (and you're right) --it was just a symbolic title given to that particular woman. I mean, to "US", she might as well BE Eve, right? --we're all time-lined back to this one particular person... even though she was obviously NOT the mother of ALL mankind, she's kind of the mother of this particular grouping.
You're totally right:) --I was assuming that the same PR people were around 2000 years ago, which is what I was kind of trying to say-- but please dont take my belief in God as a measure of my belief in "religion"...I see that religion was designed to keep people in line--maybe give them something to believe in ways that they could understand...no, my belief in God increases through how "science" is actually depicting him to be-- a force of nature that is just so much more than we can wrap our heads around. (which is why people probably need religion to water it down) --I just thought it was cool to see how some fact and fiction eventually line up a little sometimes.
I always feel like science is validating biblical view points on some level-- sure, we know the earth isnt actually 6000 years old, but it seems curious that our MRCA might have lived around 6000 years ago.
(give or take...) Could it be that there were people who knew these types of things and wrote the information in the form of scriptures that the masses of the time could digest and understand? -- thats what I always think about the whole " God made the Heavens and the Earth in 7 days" story... maybe a bit more metaphorical just so that people could wrap their heads around it all, especially people 2000 years ago who couldn't benefit from the common knowledge that we have in the present. --whether you think of God in a literal sense...or think that maybe the concept of God is simply a way of looking at the Universe as a whole...or seeing Him as a force of nature, I think it's an interesting thought, either way, how science makes sense out of the things that religion wants to play off as magic:) --which, by the way, does not invalidate my belief in God at all. In fact, quite the opposite-- I think that science helps me understand and appreciate God and my over-all existence even more. Very interesting article:)
Cant remember the last time I put a GLASS pot on the stove... or something ceramic... but Im not defending this thing, as cool (or as hot?--) as it might be because, holy crap-- it's FIVE THOUSAND dollars!!
...so thats how Lex Luthor keeps finding these cool secret lairs to operate out of...too cool:)
I actually agree with you (general outlook and opinion included) -- but when Apple actually announces solid, accurate numbers stating how many apps they have sold, then that HAS to mean that somebody out there bought them:) --so even though we think people arent getting into them that much, Apple announces (even at their keynote speeches) how many they have sold up to this point, and the numbers are staggering. --for myself, Ive bought a bunch of apps that I thought I would use and ended up tossing by the wayside as the gimmick faded...theres only a handful of apps that I actually find useful on a weekly basis.
That may or may not be true--you're basing your projected numbers on an educated guess. The hard numbers say they're making a killing off of apps... I think the thing that locks most people in to "any" format is which device they were willing to buy "first". These devices are expensive enough to keep you settled in to what you get and stay within that ecosystem -- jumping ship to a different platform would require too high of an investment once you get started... for people like me, at least. --not saying that you're wrong and Im right by any stretch...just presenting another angle. :)
You COULD argue this the other way around too, y'know? --but I get the joke...just a role reversal. I cant tell if this is depicting an actual offense to the way Scarlett is presented...or if just an easy jab.
